Targa Boats History & Heritage

In the pristine landscapes of Western Finland, a shipyard was born that would forever change the world of offshore boating. Founded in 1976 by Johan and Britt-Marie Carpelan, the shipyard embarked on a remarkable journey that continues to inspire boat lovers worldwide.

With a team of just ten individuals, the shipyard began its production in 1977. Their primary product, the H-boat, quickly gained attention and made waves at boat shows across northern Europe. This early success propelled them forward, leading to further advancements and opportunities.

In 1984, Botnia Marin made a pivotal move by acquiring the production rights for the renowned Targa 25 from Targa Yachts. This marked the beginning of an era of innovation and craftsmanship. The shipyard's dedicated professionals embarked on a comprehensive product development journey, setting new standards in boat building.

The year 1989 witnessed the unveiling of the legendary Targa 29, a vessel that captured the hearts of boat enthusiasts with its unparalleled quality and performance. This was followed by the introduction of the celebrated Targa 27 in 1991, further solidifying the shipyard's reputation as a pioneer in the industry.

As Targa boats continued to make waves, the shipyard expanded its fleet and delivered the first Targa 23 boats to customers in 1992. The relentless pursuit of excellence led to the reveal of the Targa 25 MK II in 1994, showcasing the shipyard's commitment to pushing boundaries and exceeding expectations.

Over the years, Targa boats sailed into uncharted waters, impressing with their reliability and performance. From police boats delivered to Norway and Finland to flagship models like the Targa 46 the shipyard's reputation has grown exponentially.

Today, Targa stands as a symbol of impeccable craftsmanship and dedication to customer satisfaction. With more than 200 expert boat builders, the shipyard combines modern production technologies with traditional methods to create vessels that defy expectations. From lamination to equipment installation, every stage of production is meticulously carried out in-house.

The shipyard's legacy is etched in the waves of open waters and the smiles of those who embark on unforgettable voyages. With a rich history and commitment to excellence, Targa continues to shape the future of offshore boating.
