Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.8m beam and a 3.45m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 1,481 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in January 2016 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in May 2016.

Exterior Design

Hampshire's profile exudes a balanced aesthetic, achieved through deliberately sharp hull creases and strategic color contrasts. A red boot stripe and junction lines extend along the yacht's length, accentuating its horizontal lines and mitigating any sense of excessive height.

Generous steps lead from the main deck to the bathing platform, bookending a comfortable aft main deck seating area, and descend to a mid-level featuring cushioned sunpads, before continuing down to the bathing platform. This intermediate landing also offers access to the beach club, which houses a sauna, hairdressing salon, and massage area, leading into the tender garage. The openness of this design invites guests and creates a favored spot for relaxation on board.

The yacht's hull doors, a significant feature of the design, fasten with robust stainless steel locking pins and pneumatic seals. The starboard side, in particular, showcases a door that merges two watertight compartments with impressive precision.

Furniture on the port terrace is deliberately simple and unattached, consisting of wooden frames with canvas seats, complementing the yacht's clean and casual design theme. Interior areas feature tongue and groove paneling, enhancing the New England cottage aesthetic.

On the sundeck, ample space is allocated for both a gym and social gatherings, allowing for exercise, cocktail receptions, or large dinner parties without compromise. The yacht boasts a considerable volume for her length, prioritizing larger spaces over a greater number of smaller ones.

The sundeck roof's downward angle helps to diminish the visual impact of the yacht's height, while the mast, with its contrasting colors and sharp angles, draws the eye downward. Large stainless railings and grillwork further accentuate the horizontal aspect of the design.

An innovative feature is the owner's terrace, which extends automatically at the touch of a button, blending convenience with sophisticated engineering. The oversized cap rail is another notable element, designed to be visually striking from a distance, flowing up the stern from the swim step and contributing to the yacht's cohesive exterior lines.

Hampshire's exterior is a study in creating harmony between the yacht's dimensions and the desire for open, inviting spaces.

Interior Design

The interior design of Hampshire is characterized by a focus on casual elegance and a home-like atmosphere, achieving a balance between comfort and classical elements without being overpowering. Designers Peder Eidsgaard and Ben Harrison, along with Ewa Tasior-Eidsgaard, who took primary responsibility for furnishings and soft goods, have crafted an environment that encourages relaxation upon stepping aboard.

Within Hampshire's ample interior volume, the design team has employed a clever layout to maximize the use of space. The formal dining room is oriented sideways to take advantage of the yacht's beam, thus avoiding a narrow, hallway-like feel. The dining area features a large table capable of seating 14 guests, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows that provide ample natural light. Above the dining table hangs a unique chandelier, composed of alabaster "candles" lined with vellum to produce a warm glow, with LED lights positioned at varying heights to mimic the natural burn of candles.

Materials such as Foglizzo leather panels on the overheads and walnut inlays with art deco designs on pocket doors contribute to the refined ambiance of the dining saloon. The walnut doors can isolate the room for privacy or open up to reveal the stunning atrium lobby. The atrium itself is a striking feature, with an impressive height of over 8.5 meters enhanced by a floating marble staircase against a glass backdrop. The staircase and bulkhead are adorned with Crema Marfil marble, with silver fish insets adding a subtle decorative touch.

The main saloon is arranged to accommodate family gatherings, with a layout that includes a separate saloon aft of the pantry. This cozier space is fitted with chenille chairs and a Tai Ping silk carpet that updates a traditional pattern for a contemporary feel. The theme of "classic with a twist" is evident here, with less formal furnishings that still maintain an air of sophistication.

Throughout the yacht, the joinery utilizes two wood species: dark brown stained walnut and oak with a light grey tint. These materials are complemented by polished stainless steel inlays in the "formal" spaces, adding a touch of visual interest to the otherwise understated design. The interior's connection to the outdoors is reinforced by strategically placed windows and the use of natural materials, maintaining a cohesive relationship with the surrounding sea views.

Accommodation

The Feadship-built Hampshire features six cabins on the main deck. The versatility of the cabin configuration allows for a standard layout or an alternative setup transforming two forward cabins into one full-beam VIP suite, according to guest preferences.

The centerpiece of Hampshire's guest accommodations is the owner's suite. The suite includes a spacious sitting room with direct, secret access to the bridge, offering a discreet convenience for the owner. A unique feature is the suite's private balcony, which extends from the bulwarks on the port side at the touch of a button, providing an exclusive outdoor space with self-deploying safety railings.

Throughout the yacht, the use of dark brown stained walnut and oak with a light grey tint creates a consistent and elegant aesthetic in the guest cabins. Each space is marked with polished stainless steel inlay, adding a subtle yet distinct touch of sophistication. The cabins are designed to foster a strong connection to the outdoors, ensuring that guests are never far from the maritime experience. They are well-appointed, with attention to detail evident in every aspect, from the joinery to the soft furnishings.

Hampshire is also capable of carrying up to 17 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
