109m superyacht Y720 launched by Oceanco

The eye-catching superyacht will become one of the 50 largest yachts in the world upon her scheduled delivery later this year.

One of three huge superyachts Oceanco has slated to deliver this year, 109m (358ft) superyacht Project Y720, has been launched in the Netherlands.

The Dutch yard revealed the superyacht hit the water at its Alblasserdam facilities, making it its first launch of what is set to be a big year in every sense of the world for the builder. The yard is also scheduled to deliver the 127m (417ft) sailing yacht Y721 and the 117m (384ft) superyacht INFINITY before the year is out.

Notable for a prominent use of glass with the main, bridge and upper decks each fully surrounded by large glass windows, Project Y720 marks another milestone for Oceanco. In September 2019 Y720 was the first hull received at its new facilities in Zwijndrecht, which they acquired in May 2019. Construction took place in Zwijndrecht before she moved to Oceanco’s Alblasserdam headquarters for her outfitting in June 2020.

The superyacht is a collaboration with Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design and Molly Isaksen Interior Inc on the interior and exteriors, whilst Lateral is responsible for her naval architecture. The yard also revealed that the Owner played a key role through the design process.

Details on the project are scarce but photos at the launch revealed a pale grey hull and a classically proportioned profile, with a large foredeck left bare for socialising and a Jacuzzi on the upper aft deck. Oceanco has also revealed she has been engineered with technologically advanced environmental systems that exceed current regulations.

That presence is set to be increased even further over the next 24 months, with the delivery of Y720, the 127m (417ft) sailing yacht Project Y721, which has reportedly been commissioned by Amazon owner Jeff Bezos, 117m (384ft) INFINITY and also the 121m (397ft) Project Y722.
