Benetti launches first classically inspired Motopanfilo 37M

The 37m (121ft) yacht draws on the rich heritage of the Italian yard and is influenced by the large motor yachts of the 1960s which helped make the brand's name.

Benetti has launched its first Motopanfilo 37M, with the 1960s inspired fiberglass and composite yacht hitting the water at its Viareggio shipyard.

With interior design by Lazzarini Pickering and exteriors by Francesco Struglia in collaboration with Benetti, the 37m (121ft) yacht is heavily influenced by the large motor yachts of the 1960s, even taking its name, Motopanfilo, from the Italian word used to denote them.

The clean-cut lines and tapering forms of the Motopanfilo 37M retain the classical elegance of years gone by, with some updated styling to bring the motor yacht into the modern era. In the saloon, for instance, contemporary style glazed surfaces and gently curved ceilings combine with warm wood and light colors to amplify natural light and create a sense of spaciousness and openness.

The beach club definitely has a more retro feel, complete with a fabric canopy to provide shade on the water’s edge when the ample bathing platform is in use. Other notable spots include a cozy observation deck, a skylounge and an upper deck primed for relaxation with sunbeds and a Jacuzzi.

Accommodation wise four cabins provide accommodation for ten guests and include a main deck master cabin and three lower deck guest cabins.

The classic motor yacht is powered by twin MAN V12 engines to give a top speed of 16 knots and a range of 3,800nm at a cruising speed of 10 knots.

A ceremony was held in Viareggio to celebrate the launch of the first Motopanfilo 37M and she is set to be delivered to her Owner in September, after making her debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival the same month.

Benetti was one of the first shipyards to produce these ‘Motopanfilo’ style yachts in the 1960s, launching models such as the Delfino and the Mediterraneo that attracted high-profile clients including Prince Rainier III, Grace Kelly and David Bowie. Benetti announced its Motopanfilo 37M model at the end of last year, proclaiming it “a yacht suspended in time”.
