The Cantiere delle Marche superyacht AUDACE has been relaunched following an extensive 16-month refit by Lusben.
The most notable parts of the 16-month overhaul have seen her size increase from 42m (138ft) to 46.6m (153ft), with the stern section lengthened by 2.4m (7.8ft) and her bow by 2.2m (6.5ft). An interesting and very positive result of these changes sees this yacht's maximum design speed increased from 15.8 knots to 17 knots while fuel consumption is expected to reduce by 20%.
The fully-custom explorer yacht was commissioned by Andrea Merloni, former president of Fineldo and Indesit, who recently passed away. After his first season onboard, AUDACE was launched in 2019, he decided to make a series of modifications with a view to using the yacht as his residence for most of the year. As a mark of respect to the late Owner, the Merloni family decided to go ahead with his wishes.
Work to her interior have included installation of two lifts, the Owner’s deck flooring has been redesigned and can now be heated and the electrical system has been completely renovated. Finally all the furnishings on the Owner’s deck have been revised and the color palette has shifted from predominantly light colors to darker tones.
Her exterior has also been refitted, and her stern platform has seen a total makeover of the teak and a robotic telescopic gangway installed. Her large external living areas, designed to facilitate an outdoor life onboard, have remained intact, with the bar areas being enhanced.
To commemorate the Owner all staff involved in the refit of AUDACE took part in a ceremony in his memory, accompanied by all the boats in the Marina sounding their horns in respect.
AUDACE is now set to sail directly to the Balearic Islands in Spain, where the late Owner spent his holidays. A further ceremony will be held in his honor there.
Lusben was founded in 1956 and works across three sites including an 180m (590ft) floating dock that is able to accommodate the largest luxury yachts in the world. Most recently it completed the refit of the 48m (157.5ft) Perini Navi sailing yacht 'Morning Glory', notable for once being owned by Australian media magnate Rupert Murdoch.
