Vlogger Aquaholic takes you on a visual journey through the Horizon FD87 in this review, highlighting this 27.45m fast displacement crossover yacht, the cabin design and outdoor amenities filmed in Palma.
Video Tour
On Deck
The yacht is described as huge with a displacement hull, which offers several benefits, especially the large amount of space it provides. The casual entertaining area in the aft-cockpit is found to be wonderfully shaded and welcoming. There are plenty of storage options and doors on the side decks, which help block drafts.
A unique feature is a dual-purpose area at the back of the yacht. When the transom section is lifted, it serves as a beach club with a bar area, fridge, hob, and microwave. When the transom is lowered, it can become the crew mess area.
The exterior upper deck has seating and a bar area, and has a bimini covering for shade. A jet ski or rib can be placed up here with a crane. The foredeck area is beautifully spacious with pop up lights, seating and sun pads. Right at the very front of the yacht, there is a little seat tucked away with a fantastic view.
Interior
Immediately on entering, the saloon has a day heads, conveniently positioned at the back for easy access from the cockpit or when swimming off the back of the boat. The saloon has good storage options and AV equipment. One of his favorite features is the adjustable dining area, which can be transformed into a breakfast bar or a formal dining area for eight people. Nick also appreciates the doors on both sides of the boat that provide ample airflow and mosquito screens to keep insects out.
The yacht's galley has an open plan design, which can be closed off if needed. It features plenty of storage, Miele hob and oven, and big fridge freezers. The yacht has a central vacuum system, a feature not commonly found on boats under 100 feet.
On the upper deck there is a lounge area and helm. The helm features a multi-function twin display and a Böning system.
The master cabin on the main deck standouts for its lighting, skylight, dressing area, and ensuite. The yacht's VIP master cabin and other cabins also impress with their size, storage options, and ensuites. The yacht's design uses lighter oak tones on the upper deck for a contemporary feel and darker tones on the lower deck for a cozier look. He also noted the laundry facilities on the lower deck.
Crew Accommodation
The crew area is accessed via a discreet doorway in the aft-cockpit. There are two crew cabins, one with bunks and the other with a double bed. Both share a day heads with separate shower stall. The crew area has access to the beach club galley area when it is not in use.
Performance
The engine space houses the boat's twin MTU V10 engines and a water maker that produces fresh water from seawater. The engines can give the boat about 20 knots flat out, cruising at 8 knots can give a range of 3,000 nm. There are fire hydrants and an escape hatches for safety.
In Summary
Throughout the tour, Nick continually highlights the Horizon FD87's space, practical design elements, and adaptability. He clearly appreciates the yacht's combination of luxury and functionality.
