Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 13.8m beam and a 3.75m draft. The yacht is built over 5 decks with an internal volume of 2,850 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in January 2012 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in June 2012.
Exterior Design
Originally launched in 2012, the yacht underwent an extensive multi-year refit, culminating in a relaunch in spring 2024. The result is a completely transformed vessel, nearly unrecognizable from its original design.
The yacht maintains its distinctive raked bow and high topsides, with the lower deck concealed until amidships, where sheltered walkways and continuous glazing are revealed. On the main deck, continuous vertical dark glazing leads to intimate guest spaces just forward, before reaching the foredeck with mooring equipment and a helipad. Aft on the main deck, guests can enjoy seating and dining options.
Moving to the upper deck, protruding side balconies forward of amidships create a striking feature within the superstructure's lines. The sundeck preserves the curvature of the original design, featuring angled forward-leaning slats that elevate the bridge area towards the wings at the base of the rearward-sloping communication and navigation tower. A jacuzzi and sun lounging space extends under the canopy towards the aft, providing additional seating and relaxation options.
Access to the transom is facilitated by high-sided twin staircases on either side of the deck.
Interior Design
The yacht's main lobby is distinguished by the ornate silver staircase that spirals up through three decks. This remarkable architectural element was crafted in parts before being assembled on the boat, creating a visually striking focal point that exudes grandeur and sophistication.
The formal dining saloon features cream columns and paneling, enhanced with blood-red glass lamps by Porta Romana and coral patterns on the chairs and Holland&Sherry curtains. The dining saloon also showcases an intricate marquetry panel depicting an ace playing card, signaling the yacht's name and the owner's daring spirit.
A sitting room/library lies forward of the dining saloon, offering a more relaxed ambiance with a fireplace, piano, and games table. Custom Holland & Sherry cushions in bespoke colorways and luminous azure oil paintings and glass sculptures infuse the room with a subtle ocean theme. Large 180-degree windows offer an uninterrupted view of the foredeck and swimming pool, promoting a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience.
The upper deck is home to most of the yacht's social areas, featuring custom sofas, ivory silk chaises longues, and a selection of precious materials including mother-of-pearl door inlays and silver leaf fabric wall panels.
Among the yacht's unique features is a Russian tearoom and nightclub on the top deck, boasting Macassar ebony paneling, embossed leather, and custom-designed mirrors. The lower deck houses a Roman-inspired spa, complete with a hammam, sauna, spa pool, icy plunge pool, and a lounge adjacent to a large fold-down sea terrace.
Throughout the yacht, an array of high-end materials, including Rosa Aurora stone and blue sodalite, were hand-selected for purity and flawless aesthetic appeal.
Accommodation
Accommodation aboard Ace is generously spaced, with the yacht comfortably housing 10 guests across five suites, each designed with a unique theme such as art deco, classical, French provincial, and "contemporary nautical". All guest cabins are located on the main deck, along with crew spaces ensuring privacy yet easy accessibility.
The owner's suite, facing aft, provides panoramic views of the ocean, creating a tranquil setting to wake up to. The suite is designed with a blend of soft champagnes and whites, with the intention of showcasing the owner's art collection. A hand-carved headboard in a contemporary ribbon design and floral marquetry above the bookshelves add to the suite's distinctive character. The bathroom floor is tastefully inlaid with a graphic pattern using semi-precious stones and marbles, whilst the wardrobe, simple on the outside, opens to reveal a bold lining in a marquetry stripe inspired by Savile Row suits.
The yacht's owner took special interest in the crew spaces, wanting to ensure efficiency and comfort for the people helping to run the yacht. The crew mess is situated on the main deck, unlike most yachts where it is usually tucked away on the lower decks. This smart design decision was driven by the owner's desire for the crew to feel part of the yachting experience and not confined to the lower levels of the yacht. The functionality of the crew spaces is further enhanced by the yacht's vast galley and intelligent circulation throughout the vessel.
Performance & Capabilities
Ace is powered by two robust MTU 16V 4000 M61 engines. These twin engines, known for their durability and efficiency, provide a combined power of 4,680 HP, enabling Ace to reach a top speed of 15.5 knots. The yacht's cruising speed is a comfortable 12 knots, offering an optimal balance between speed and fuel efficiency.
The range of Ace is equally commendable, offering transatlantic capabilities. With a total fuel capacity of 150,000 liters, the yacht can cover a distance of 5,000 nautical miles when cruising at 12 knots. This extensive range is a testament to the efficient design and engineering of Lürssen and ensures that Ace can undertake long voyages with fewer fuel stops.
Ace also boasts advanced stabilizers to ensure a smooth and comfortable ride for its guests. The yacht is equipped with a state-of-the-art stabilization system with both at anchor and underway stabilizers. This system reduces the roll motion effect, leading to a smoother and more enjoyable cruising experience. Furthermore, the stabilizers increase onboard comfort when the yacht is stationary, particularly in rough waters.
Wellness
On the lower deck, adjacent to a large fold-down sea terrace. there is an immense spa, inspired by Roman villas. The spa includes a hammam, spa pool, Russian banya (sauna), icy plunge pool, cold water bucket shower with lounge, and a beauty salon and massage room.
