Design & Construction
Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.68m beam and a 3.35m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 968 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Falcon Lair features a clipper bow, providing both aesthetic appeal and enhanced performance in varying sea conditions. Decks are laid with teak, known for its resilience and anti-slip properties, ensuring safety and comfort underfoot. The yacht's hull is painted a deep blue, contrasting with the white superstructure for a classic nautical look. The boot top and antifoul are both colored black, completing the streamlined and functional design.
The main deck is arranged to maximize space and accessibility. The ship's boats are strategically stowed on either side of the main aft deck, with a central entrance passage in between. This configuration ensures the main deck remains clear and unobstructed.
A notable feature is the upper deck helipad, allowing the owner and guests to arrive or depart conveniently. The upper deck also includes a spacious open saloon with fixed furniture, providing a shaded area under the helicopter deck. The design promotes privacy, particularly in port, as the upper deck offers an unobstructed view through a curved glass partition to the open deck and seascape beyond.
Interior Design
The Falcon Lair yacht, designed by Fritz de Voogt and with interiors by Luigi Sturcchio, features a spacious grand saloon that extends the full beam of the yacht. The decor is restrained, with fluted columns framing Carrara marble urns, contributing to a spacious atmosphere.
The upper deck is equipped with a helipad, offering convenient access for the owner. The saloon on this deck is characterized by white lacquered walls with gold trim, white carpet with a subtle gold floral pattern, and white Spanish kidskin ceiling panels also edged in gold. The seating area includes sofas and chairs with blue fabric, adding a touch of color. The space also features two large Carrara marble fountains with onyx inlays, and white marble vases set between columns.
Adjacent to the grand saloon is a bar, maintaining the white, gold, and blue theme. A curved stairway with marble steps and gold-plated handrails leads to a gallery on the main deck. This gallery, decorated with white, gold, and marble, displays oriental figures in slim cabinets and an antique Thai Buddha statue. Onyx panels inscribed with the Prince's monogram in gold are also present in this area.
The dining saloon opens from the gallery through white lacquered doors inlaid with Korean mother-of-pearl. The room features black figured marble wall panels, columns, and ceiling panels. The table is glass-topped, and the dining chairs are of a rustic style, contrasting with the classical decor.
Throughout Falcon Lair, attention is given to materials and finishes, with frequent use of Carrara marble, onyx, and lapis lazuli. The internal spaces are designed for both functionality and aesthetic appeal, with a focus on clean lines and high-quality materials.
