Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.3m beam and a 2.47m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 614 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.

She was delivered to her owners in January 1988.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the yacht Ice Bear features a raked bow, which enhances its nautical efficiency and forward motion. The deck is made of teak, a material known for its durability and resistance to harsh marine conditions. The hull and superstructure both exhibit a clean, white finish, creating a cohesive and streamlined appearance. The boot top is colored blue, adding a subtle contrast to the overall design. This color scheme and design choices contribute to a straightforward and functional aesthetic, prioritizing performance and reliability.

Ice Bear features a crow's nest equipped with a helm station, providing elevated views for navigation. Below the crow's nest, an observation lounge offers full-height wraparound glass, leather armchairs, a raised sofa, a marble-topped bar, and a dayhead aft. The rear of the observation lounge grants access to the boat deck and deck crane.

Walkaround sidedecks on the upper deck lead to a hydraulically-operated coachroof that conceals a technical space for storing the second tender. The bridge deck includes a sky lounge that is glazed on three sides, with satin-finished woods and feature columns. The lounge is furnished with a forward-facing U-shaped sofa around an ornate coffee table, positioned to face a large TV on the forward bulkhead.

Interior Design

The interior design of Ice Bear combines functionality with understated elegance. The observation lounge features full-height wraparound glass, offering panoramic views. Leather armchairs and a raised sofa provide comfortable seating, while a marble-topped bar enhances the space. An adjacent dayhead adds convenience, and the area offers access to the boat deck and deck crane.

The sky lounge, located aft on the bridge deck, is enclosed by glass on three sides and features satin-finished woods with decorative columns. The lounge includes a forward-facing U-shaped sofa around an ornate coffee table, facing a large TV mounted on the forward bulkhead.

The main lobby is distinguished by marble flooring, transitioning to carpeted areas throughout the rest of the yacht. Aft of the lobby, a formal dining room accommodates 10 guests around an oval table, positioned beneath a ceiling rose mirroring the table's shape and size.

Accommodation

Ice Bear provides luxurious accommodation for up to 10 guests in five meticulously designed cabins. The full-beam owner's suite, located forward on the main deck, offers a bed positioned to port and an office area to starboard. This suite also features his-and-hers bathrooms, each equipped with a bath, and a shared shower room. Large picture windows enhance the suite with ample natural light.

Guest accommodations continue on the lower deck, accessible via steps from the main deck dining room. Here, two double cabins are situated to port, while two twin cabins are located to starboard.
