Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 12.5m beam and a 3.6m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 1,608 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in early 2007 with the keel laid under the project name 'Lady Christine IV'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Lady Christine features a raked bow, contributing to its sleek and dynamic profile. The yacht features dramatically shaped side windows on both the main and upper decks, which extend to a point at their forward end. A significant portion of these windows is false, with blacked-out backing, providing a unique visual effect. The forward-looking windows on the main, upper, and sun decks retain a more traditional upright style.

Lady Christine has a classic white hull and superstructure, with contrasting black accents below the waterline and along the boot top. The decks are finished with teak, offering a traditional and functional surface. The vessel's exterior design emphasizes clean lines and practical materials, combining both form and function.

One of the yacht's notable design elements is the raised foredeck, utilized more extensively than on comparable vessels. Each deck section is progressively elevated, resulting in a practical arrangement of interior spaces. The cinema, crew mess, and some crew cabins are on the raised tank deck, while the galley and remaining crew cabins are on the raised lower deck. The bridge is positioned on the raised main deck, and the owner's observation lounge is situated on the elevated owner's deck, providing excellent forward views.

Additionally, the yacht includes innovative fold-down hull terraces on either side of the main deck dining room. These terraces extend the deck space by three meters when deployed, creating a stable and vibration-free platform even while underway. This design allows for unique vantage points during cruises.

The aft main deck features a sizable infinity swimming pool with a waterfall cascading down the transom. A special tank system warms and filters the water, allowing the pool to be filled quickly. The aft platform can be set up with beach furniture to create a lido deck.

The top deck is equipped to receive a helicopter, with an artificial teak surface, and can store smaller tenders, including a Herreshoff Haven 12.5 sailing dinghy.

Interior Design

The interior design of Lady Christine, executed by Rodney Black, showcases a distinct early Art Deco style, characterized by its use of fine materials and craftsmanship. The overall aesthetic emphasizes functionality and elegance through the use of wood, glass, metal, and stone.

The main saloon features a blend of sophisticated materials, including engraved glass panels by Andrew Moor. These panels add a refined touch to the space, complementing the carefully crafted marquetry work from Aryma, which is a notable highlight of the décor. The saloon also includes custom-made furniture from Bill Cleyndert's workshop, such as dining tables, sofas, and desks, which are designed to enhance the room's practical and aesthetic appeal.

The dining area presents a creative layout, with a dining table positioned opposite a piano bar. This arrangement makes efficient use of the space, particularly when the terraces are deployed, creating a more open and inviting atmosphere. The integration of stanchions with transparent safety panels adds both functionality and a sense of openness to the dining experience.

The Key West lounge, located on the top deck, was originally intended as a viewing spot for yacht racing but has been developed into a versatile small lounge and dining area. This space is almost completely surrounded by windows, offering panoramic views. The lounge is equipped with a teppanyaki grill, barbecue, and pizza oven, making it well-suited for hosting and dining. A glass table, supported by the root structure of a teak tree, adds a unique and practical design element to the room.

Throughout the yacht, there are numerous bookshelves and display stands, reflecting the owners' interest in collecting various objets d'art. The main areas of the interior were constructed by Feadship's joinery company, Van der Loo, ensuring high-quality finishes. British companies contributed significantly to the interior, with furniture from Michael Schryver and marquetry panels from Aryma.

Accommodation

Lady Christine offers accommodation for up to 10 guests in five guest cabins located on the lower deck. These cabins are spacious and well-appointed, incorporating distinctive poplar joinery with a unique design that includes large spots formed by the branches. The beds in these cabins are placed athwartships, allowing for an alternative layout where the en-suite doors are positioned to the side rather than directly opposite the bed.

The owner's suite on Lady Christine is a private apartment that spans across two levels. The bedroom is situated in the center of the suite, ending with a curved wall. Beyond the bedroom, there are two studies that provide excellent views astern and have access to the exclusive aft deck. The suite also includes a raised observation lounge, offering panoramic views through a semicircle of windows.

She is also capable of carrying up to 19 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.  The crew mess and some of the crew cabins are located on the raised portion of the tank deck, while the galley and the remaining crew cabins are on the raised lower deck.
