The 32m expedition yacht Uptight was delivered to her owners in 2022 by Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Hydro Tec, while Francesco Guida is responsible for her interior design.

Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 7.43m beam and a 2.87m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 255 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the fifth yacht built on the Darwin 106 design. Launched in January 2022 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in April 2022.
Exterior Design
Uptight incorporates an elaborate fishing cockpit. This area, defined by its utility and aesthetic appeal, showcases a beautiful wood top with integrated rod holders and ample storage solutions for fishing gear and other essentials.
The fishing cockpit is notably equipped with specialized features such as a pressurized live bait system, designed to keep fish alive and fresh for extended periods, and an Eskimo ice maker for efficient storage. This space transitions smoothly into a leisure area, offering built-in seating with additional refrigeration underneath, providing a comfortable and practical space for both fishing and socializing.
Moving to the upper deck, the sun deck includes loose furniture arrangements that allow for customization according to the owner's preferences, whether for sunbathing, dining, or entertainment. The deck is equipped with a crane for tender storage. The inclusion of a carbon fiber pole-supported sunshade system enhances usability, providing protection and comfort even in harsh weather conditions.
The forward section of the yacht features wing stations with comprehensive control setups, including shift throttle, bow thruster, and rudder controls, ensuring precise maneuverability. The anchor locker reveals thoughtful storage solutions and a dual anchor setup for added safety and convenience.
Uptights clipper bow, constructed from steel, enhances navigational efficiency and stability in diverse sea conditions. The hull is finished in a distinctive blue, while the superstructure and boot top contrast in white, adding a clean and straightforward visual statement. Below the waterline, a black finish is applied, a practical choice that masks marine growth and wear, simplifying maintenance efforts.
Interior Design
Uptight features dual sliding doors at the entrance which open to a bar area equipped with an ice maker, spring-loaded cabinets for stemware, and ample refrigeration, including four large drink fridges, designed for both indoor and outdoor service. The choice of closures throughout the yacht emphasizes practicality and durability.
The use of contrasting light and dark woods in the interior spaces is notable, with a mix of lacquered, shiny finishes and matte surfaces. The storage solutions onboard are extensive, with a particular focus on efficient and quiet closures, including a UV rack and a pop-up TV, enhancing the living experience.
The salon area is designed to host formal dining for eight, benefiting from large windows that infuse the space with natural light. An open galley design, with the option for partitioning, reflects a preference for a more inclusive and social cooking environment, characteristic of U.S.-styled layouts. The galley itself is equipped with state-of-the-art appliances and features a country-style layout with a large island, indicating an emphasis on cooking and social interaction. Notable inclusions are a unique faucet with versatile functionality, a dishwasher, trash compactor, and comprehensive storage options. The yacht is prepared for global cruising, with provisions for both 60 hertz and 50 hertz power lines to accommodate various appliances.
The helm or bridge area integrates practicality with comfort, offering a small desk space, ample storage, and a weather-tight door to the side decks. The helm is equipped with a chair on tracks, bilge alarm schematic, navigation light indicators, battery indicators, and a comprehensive breaker panel, reflecting the yacht’s readiness for long-range cruising. The electronics suite includes Furuno and Simrad components, VHF radios, a FLIR camera, surge lights, and controls for navigation and engine management.
Accommodation
Uptight offers accommodation for up to 10 guests in six suites. Located on the bridge deck, the owner suite is equipped with a king-size bed, ample storage options including a large hanging locker and several deep drawers. The suite includes a work desk/makeup space and features a hidden television that can be controlled via iPad, which is found in every stateroom. The en-suite bathroom boasts dual vanities, a two-person shower, and an expansive medicine cabinet, ensuring guests have everything they need at their fingertips.
The guest accommodations include a variety of layouts to suit different needs. One of the cabins is a double with an additional Pullman bed, accommodating up to three guests. Other cabins are designed for two guests, with the flexibility of bed arrangements, including movable beds to adapt the space as needed. Each guest cabin is equipped with en-suite facilities, including rain shower heads, and ample storage.
The crew area includes three cabins, providing accommodation for up to five crew. The cabins feature bunk beds with additional storage options, a desk space, and en-suite facilities with wet heads. The crew mess is equipped with convertible tables, separate washing and drying facilities, and is strategically located near the chart floater and other essential navigation tools.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C18 ACERT) 670hp engines running at 2100rpm, motor yacht Uptight is capable of reaching a top speed of 13 knots, and comfortably cruises at 11 knots. With her 48,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,500 nautical miles at 10 knots.
