Evo Yachts launches flagship V8 sail/motor crossover yacht

The Italian yard’s new Evo V8 combines a number of distinctive sailing and motor yacht features into one 24m (78.7ft) yacht.

Evo Yachts has revealed its flagship sailing and motor crossover yacht, the V8, has been launched at the Torre Annunziata Marina near Naples.

First renderings of the 24m (78.7ft) model, previously known as the Velar 78 concept, were released in March with the yard claiming it was “an alternative to anything seen before”.

The new yacht is designed to take distinctive features found on both motor and sailing yachts. For instance, she has a large diameter steering wheel akin to that found on a sailing yacht, but also a motor yacht's pod drives and joystick for easy maneuvering.

Evo Yachts Production Manager, Paolo D’Orazio, was quick to express his excitement about the launch: “During these hectic months, the shipyard’s team have worked on this ambitious project with dedication, passion and commitment” he said. “The creation of Evo V8 is the result of an important period of growth for the shipyard and this fills us with pride. At the same time, the launch is also a point of departure towards new increasingly ambitious and innovative projects.”

The Evo V8 is the first model in Evo Yachts new V Line and her other highlights include a large open beach area, just 70cm above the waterline and a low lounge area with glass sliding doors allowing it to be used as an open-air patio in the daytime and a private living area for the Owner at night.

The yacht features a fully customizable layout, with the first hull accommodating seven guests across three cabins.

The first hull of the Evo V8 is expected to be handed over to her Italian Owner in the coming months and will debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

Evo Yachts was established in 2014, as part of the Blu Emme Yachts brand, and is based near Naples. It creates smaller yachts characterized by clean lines, natural light and modular spaces.
