UK-based LP Design has released an explorer yacht concept inspired by one of its previous designs, 55m (180.4ft) Pendennis built superyacht STEEL.
Named Commodore 57, the 57m (187ft) explorer yacht aims to achieve the “robust charm of timeless seagoing vessels, without the compromises of vintage builds” according to the design studio.
The concept draws upon LP Design’s 2009 project STEEL, with the same high, strong bow and purposeful looks combined with a series of luxurious amenities including two spa pools, one of which is a 4.7m heated saltwater pool, a beach club, sauna and dive center.
It offers plenty of tender storage, with space for a 10.4m (34ft) expedition tender and an 8.5m (27.8ft) sports RIB, and features a main deck Owner’s suite and four guest staterooms that can accommodate up to ten guests.
Sporting a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, Commodore 57 also has two proposals for its interior with opposing color schemes. It will be powered by a hybrid diesel and electric propulsion system and has a top speed of 16 knots.
According to YachtBuyer intelligence LP Design has been behind the design of three sizeable superyachts in recent years. Aside from STEEL they also worked with Pendennis on 47.5m (155.8ft) MITSEAAH and Derecktor Shipyards on 34.75m (114ft) ‘Amazing Grace’.
