New Jersey-based Release Boatworks has unveiled the inaugural hull of its 43 Gameboat; a contemporary interpretation of the iconic Merritt 43 sportsfisher.
Tailored to the avid angler, the Release Boatworks 43 Gameboat features a spacious 13-square-meter cockpit, making it ideal for battles with large fish. Equipped with a tuna door boasting a lift gate and four standard rod holders, this vessel can be further customized with additional rod holders, a fighting chair or rocket launcher, outriggers, and an optional tower, making it tournament-ready. Additionally, an Omni sonar option ensures optimal fish detection and tracking capabilities for the captain.
Crafted by naval architect Erwin Gerards, the sportsfisher boasts a modified V hull with a 14.5-degree transom deadrise. Constructed using a vacuum-infused, e-glass hybrid fiberglass hull and blister-resistant modified epoxy resin, the 43 Gameboat incorporates Airex foam core to enhance strength without adding excessive weight. The vessel also features foam stringers encapsulated in fiberglass and vacuum-infused composite core bulkheads. Internally, the interior hull is coated with an isophthalic gel coat topcoat.
This boat is for the customer we know best — the boat owner who values compact maneuverability, a large cockpit, and spacious sleeping accommodations. This family-friendly battlewagon combines our classically engineered seaworthy hull with lofty accommodations below for overnight trips, as well as a highly fishable cockpit and clean wake for chasing trophies offshore.”

The helm station is outfitted with single-lever controls and a teak ladder-back helm chair with a 10cm pedestal and removable cushions. Furthermore, owners have the option to equip the vessel with a Seakeeper 6 gyrostabilizer for improved stability in challenging sea conditions.
