Rossinavi launches flagship 70m explorer yacht POLARIS

Italian shipyard Rossinavi has launched its largest build yet, the 70m (230ft) explorer yacht POLARIS.

Previously known as Project King Shark, the motor yacht POLARIS hit the water at Rossinavi’s Viareggio-based facility after four years in construction.

Explorer yacht POLARIS was commissioned by a private client whose brief was for an emphasis on the yachting lifestyle, with the ability for the yacht to be equally at home exploring the sub-zero conditions of polar areas as she is cruising in the warm waters of the Caribbean.

She is able to accommodate up to 12 guests across six cabins, as well as 17 crew members. Enrico Gobbi - Team for Design, is behind the sharp exterior looks and an interior that mixes warm and welcoming styling with eclectic decor inspired by the client’s personal tastes.

Key features include:

  • An Owner’s deck with a private terrace and surrounding waterfall.
  • A 6m (20ft) long infinity pool, equipped with a whirlpool system, located aft on the main deck.
  • Enough storage space for six jet skis and two tenders, including a 10m (33ft) full-custom limousine tender that was built in house by Rossinavi.

POLARIS also features an elegant soundproof cinema room and a wellness centre complete with a fully equipped gym, sauna, hammam and massage room.

A diesel-electric propulsion system ensures optimum performance, fuel efficiency and reduced impact on the environment, whilst a Satellite Dynamic System allows explorer yacht POLARIS to hold position in extreme weather conditions without dropping anchor in environmentally sensitive regions. Triple C32 CAT diesel engines give a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots.

“After four years under construction, we are extremely proud to present this grand superyacht. POLARIS is a 70m vessel where our construction skills and technical know-how are perfectly combined. The complexity of this project required a very specific phased approach thanks to the skills we have acquired. POLARIS is the masterpiece where lines and elegance boasts the harmony typical of a modern yacht,” says Federico Rossi, Chief Operating Officer of Rossinavi.

Having delivered 21 yachts with an average length of 47.7m (156ft) since 1999, only one other Rossinavi matches up to explorer yacht POLARIS in terms of size: superyacht HIGH POWER III, which was delivered in 2011 and also measures 70m (230ft). The Italian yard will be hoping explorer yacht POLARIS can match the achievements of its esteemed predecessor, superyacht HIGH POWER III won three awards and a further five nominations.

Polaris also marks the biggest project Team For Design has been involved in, usurping the 63m (207ft) UTOPIA IV, also a Rossinavi yacht that was delivered in 2018. In fact Team for Design are long-term Rossinavi collaborators, Rossinavi yachts make up nine of the 22 yachts designed by the Italian-based firm since it was established in 2005.
