Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 29'6" beam and a 8'6" draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 467 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in mid 2013 with the keel laid under the project name 'Kinesis'. Launched in October 2013 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in October 2014.
Exterior Design
Ares cuts a striking figure on the water, finished with a taupe hull, white bootstripe, and a crisp white superstructure. Her exterior styling blends contemporary flair with a bold, performance-driven character. A 30 square metre aft deck terrace extends from the upper deck saloon, framed by floor-to-ceiling glass that opens the space to the sea.
Above, the 30 square metre open sun deck offers plenty of room to unwind during the day or to host lively gatherings at night. Wherever you are, the design ensures wide, uninterrupted views of the surrounding ocean.
Ares isn't just about looks. She represents a dramatic step forward in performance, using a Fast Displacement Hull Form paired with a Hull Vane to capture the energy of the sea itself. Independent research from two of the world’s leading hydrodynamic laboratories confirms her abilities - she is 35 per cent more efficient at reaching a top speed of nearly 16 knots compared to other yachts of her size. With a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots, Ares can cover more than 750 nautical miles effectively ‘free’, thanks to remarkably low fuel consumption - significantly less than a traditional displacement yacht.
Even without these technical advances, Ares would make a powerful impression - her design and on-deck lifestyle spaces are superbly executed.
Interior Design
Inside, Ares carries a timeless, classical feel, wrapped in walnut wood panelling and softened by ambient lighting. A beautifully designed spiral staircase acts as the centrepiece, connecting the decks with a sense of effortless style.
The main saloon is laid out for both relaxation and socialising, featuring large, inviting sofas, generous armchairs, and a dining area set for ten guests.
Up on the upper deck, the saloon is surrounded by glass, with floor-to-ceiling windows that draw in natural light and open onto the expansive aft terrace. It’s an ideal space for quiet afternoons or lively evenings of entertaining.
Throughout the yacht, the use of luxurious materials - marble, granite, rare woods, and select metals - is made possible through Heesen’s expert work in weight reduction. Ares delivers refined elegance without ever compromising her exceptional performance.
Accommodation
Ares accommodates up to 12 guests across six suites, supported by a crew of nine.
The full-beam Owner’s stateroom is positioned aft on the upper deck. It includes a large private study, a full-beam bathroom, and even a dedicated gymnasium - a rare feature at this size, giving the owner a private, self-contained retreat.
Forward on the main deck lies the VIP suite, designed with a calming Japanese influence. Shoji panels and intricate ceiling woodwork create a peaceful, elegant atmosphere. The suite also features a private balcony on the starboard side, a generous studio, and a large walk-in wardrobe, all flooded with natural light.
On the lower deck, four guest suites are laid out with private en-suite bathrooms. Each is carefully crafted to maximise comfort and luxury, maintaining Heesen’s renowned standard of fine detail and performance-driven design.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 2000 M72) 12-cylinder 1,448hp engines running at 2250rpm, motor yacht Ares is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 13,209 gallon fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.
