Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.2m beam and a 3.5m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 1,279 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
The profile of Lady Marina is characterized by sweeping, sculptured lines that emphasize the yacht's length and effectively disguise the height of this massive four-deck vessel. The design consciously steers clear of the exaggerated streamlined look that has become somewhat of a design cliché in the yachting world. Instead, all the forward-facing windows are vertical and shaded by smoothly curved brows, lending a unique aesthetic to the yacht.
One of the standout features of Lady Marina is the 'waisted' upper deck. This innovative design allows for the yacht's two boats, a Craig Craft fast launch and a 7.6m (24ft 11in) Zodiac RIB, to be stowed amidships. They are launched and recovered by horizontal beam cranes. The advantage of this arrangement is that it leaves the after part of the deck completely free of boats, cranes, or other technical equipment, paving the way for a superb outdoor entertaining area. With the double doors to the upper saloon thrown open, up to 100 people can comfortably sit down for a meal in the vast combined space.
The sun deck is another marvel of exterior design on Lady Marina. It is virtually a small beach resort on its own, offering direct access via the stairs or elevator. It features a vast area of sun pads, a pool almost large enough to qualify as a 'swimming pool', individual lockers for personal items, a large seating and dining area, and a fully-equipped barbecue and bar. All of these are set against the backdrop of spectacular 360-degree views, making the sun deck the perfect place to spend time outdoors.
Interior Design
The interior design, masterfully crafted by London-based designer Donald Starkey, is characterized by sweeping, sculptured lines and a distinctive profile that is both modern and classic. Striking features such as the stunning marble staircase that rises through four decks, and the hundreds of small beveled panels of western red cedar that frame it, showcase Starkey's love for interesting textures.
The main saloon and adjacent dining room exude dignity and grace, with paneling of burr eucalyptus and raised and fielded cherry. The handmade and sculptured carpets, bordered by limed oak flooring, add to the elegance. The formal dining room, separated from the saloon by a fixed central cabinet, is dominated by a striking octagonal faux tortoiseshell table. The table's unique design is reflected in the octagonal mirrored ceiling panel above, creating a mesmerizing effect.
The upper saloon on the boat deck showcases a more informal style, featuring light-colored Canadian elm paneling, a white basket-weave carpet, and comfortable wicker furniture. The double doors can be opened to create a massive semi-open-air entertaining space, perfect for hosting large gatherings.
Accommodation
The yacht comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests in 6 cabins. The main feature of the yacht is the owner's suite, a vast private suite that is entirely separate from the guest areas. The suite boasts seven rooms, including a full-beam stateroom decorated in a refined oriental style. Above the stateroom is a private observation lounge, which opens onto a secluded deck. The suite also includes a large study, a fully equipped gymnasium and sauna, a hairdressing salon, and an additional small cabin. All these spaces open off a corridor that can be closed off from the rest of the accommodation for utmost privacy.
For guests, Lady Marina offers two aft double cabins that can be combined to form a VIP suite with two bathrooms. There are also two more double ensuite cabins and a twin cabin. For additional flexibility, there are two more cabins available for senior staff or guests. Each guest cabin is individually designed with a collection of woods, marbles, and fabrics, creating a unique ambiance in every room.
Crew accommodation on Lady Marina is also thoughtfully designed. The yacht provides comfortable quarters for a crew of 17 people. The crew has their own sleeping accommodation and a large crew mess where they can relax together. There are extensive working spaces, including a separate chart room and a communications office. The crew quarters also provide access to a sub-deck with storerooms, cold stores, and laundry facilities.
The design of Lady Marina ensures a quiet and peaceful environment for guests. The engine room, generator rooms, and storage lazarettes are concentrated at the aft of the yacht, meaning that the guest accommodation is located in the quietest part of the yacht, with no potentially noisy shafts and propellers running below it.
Performance & Capabilities
Lady Marina is powered by two Caterpillar 3516 DI-TA 1492hp diesel engines, enabling her to reach a top speed of 16 knots. Her cruising speed stands at 12 knots, which she can maintain for a range of up to 6,500 nautical miles, thanks to her substantial fuel capacity of 201,000 litres. This range, coupled with her impressive speed, ensures that Lady Marina is well-suited for long-distance cruising, allowing her guests to explore the world in unparalleled luxury.
The yacht also features an advanced stabilization system to ensure maximum comfort at all times. Feadship's in-house naval architect, De Voogt, in collaboration with the Dutch Maritime Research Institute, has developed an innovative anti-roll ballast tank, which can reduce roll by 60% to 75% in optimal conditions. This system is complemented by four Vosper stabilizer fins that can virtually eliminate roll when the yacht is underway.
Lady Marina's mechanical prowess extends to her tender and toy storage. The yacht's two tenders, a Craig Craft fast launch and a 7.6m (24ft 11in) Zodiac RIB, are housed on the upper deck, which is specially designed to accommodate them. The tenders are launched and recovered by horizontal beam cranes, a feature that ensures the aft section of the deck remains uncluttered and is free for guest use.
In terms of safety, Lady Marina is fully compliant with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) standards, highlighting Feadship's commitment to safety and security on board their yachts. The yacht is equipped with a sophisticated fire door system and has undergone rigorous safety checks to meet MCA requirements.
