Design & Construction
Designed around a full displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 37'10" beam and a 31'11" draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 496 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in early 2008. This was the ninth yacht built on the 56m Series design. Launched in July 2010 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in September 2010.
Exterior Design
Melek features a straightforward and practical exterior design. The yacht is equipped with a raked bow, enhancing its hydrodynamic efficiency and providing a sleek profile. The deck is crafted from teak, known for its durability and resistance to the elements, offering both functionality and a classic aesthetic.
The hull of Melek is painted in a navy blue color, which contrasts sharply with the white superstructure, creating a clean and timeless look. The boot top is also white, maintaining consistency with the superstructure and adding to the yacht's cohesive appearance. Below the waterline, the hull is painted black. This color choice is practical for reducing the visibility of marine growth and wear.
The reorganisation of the bow space has led to the creation of an al-fresco living area equipped with chaise-longues, which can be sheltered by a bimini. This change streamlines the layout, eliminating the step at the mainmast level to produce an uninterrupted gunwale and deck line, resulting in a sleeker profile.
The superstructure has been lowered by approximately 20 centimeters, contributing to a more modern and streamlined appearance. Additionally, the flybridge wing has been reshaped, further enhancing the yacht's contemporary look.
The exterior innovations extend to the lengthened cockpit, which is surrounded by transparent screens and includes a dining area and a conversation zone furnished with custom sofas by Celi. These sofas are also featured on the flybridge, where they are paired with a Jacuzzi to create a spacious sundeck located aft of the helm station.
Interior Design
The interior design of Melek is defined by its use of high-quality materials and rational, elegant styling. The primary materials include cherry, walnut, spruce, leathers, and parchment, which harmonize to create a sophisticated yet functional environment.
The main deck features a lounge area furnished with a roomy L-shaped divan by Minotti, complemented by armchairs and a central table. This space is oriented towards a stairwell unit equipped with a TV screen. Adjacent to the lounge is the dining area, which contains a round table with Frau chairs that can accommodate twelve guests. The dining area also has a unique S-shaped sofa and a games table, providing a versatile setup for various activities.
The saloon lounge can be divided into two separate spaces using folding panels, which are strategically designed to integrate with the stairwell. This division allows for flexible usage of the interior spaces, enabling both relaxation and entertainment.
The ceilings throughout the interior are crafted from brushed spruce with visible grain and wengé molding, adding a touch of refined craftsmanship. Leather-paneled cupboards form the corners of the living area, echoing the overall design theme found on the lower deck and in cabins.
Accommodation
Melek offers accommodation for up to ten guests in five well-appointed cabins. The master suite, located aft, is a notable highlight of Melek's accommodation. It includes a double bed, a sofa, and a desk situated to starboard. The bathroom area and wardrobes are located to port. The central bathroom block is a prominent feature, equipped with a double washbasin and vanity unit, surrounded by a bath, shower, and cupboards. The suite's aesthetic combines woods and light Foglizzo leathers, creating a refined space.
In addition to the master suite, Melek has four guest cabins. These include three double cabins and one cabin with twin beds and a bunk, catering to various guest needs. Each cabin comes with a private bathroom, featuring a distinctive metallic gray finish in the bathroom mirrors, complementing the wood and marble elements.
She is also capable of carrying up to 10 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C 32) 12-cylinder 1,400hp engines running at 2200rpm, motor yacht Melek is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 14 knots.
