The 46.5m motor yacht Rahal was delivered to her owners in 2003 by Dutch shipyard Feadship. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Terence Disdale, while De Voogt is responsible for her naval architecture.
Key Features
- Main open-air dining connects to lounge
- Stern lazarette for diving gear storage
- Upper deck with forward-facing seat
- Side decks facilitate smooth movement onboard
Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8.85m beam and a 3.2m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 562 GT (Gross Tonnes).
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Rahal features a raked bow which enhances its sleek profile and cutting efficiency through the water. The hull and superstructure are painted in a crisp white, creating a clean and cohesive look. Complementing the white is the black boot top and below-the-spec color, adding a touch of contrast and sophistication.
The side decks, which extend forward from the main deck aft to midships, culminate in two stairways that rise gracefully to meet the full circle surrounding the upper deck. This arrangement not only facilitates effortless movement around the vessel but also serves to afford the master stateroom with both privacy and generous volume.
Rahal's stern lazarette, meticulously organized to accommodate diving gear and a jet-ski, underscores the yacht's dedication to water sports and adventure. The careful placement of the yacht's tenders, with the main tender, a 6m Novurania, situated on the aft of the bridge deck and the smaller crew tender stored on the sun deck, speaks to the owner's preferences and the yacht's functional design.
The upper deck offers a forward-facing seat that provides an invigorating spot to enjoy the sea breeze while underway, complemented by adjacent sun pads for relaxation. Beneath the extended arch mast, guests can find respite from the sun in the shaded area, which features a welcoming L-shaped settee and a pair of dining tables, perfect for alfresco dining or enjoying cocktails under the stars.
On the deck below, the main open-air dining area seamlessly connects with the upper lounge via large sliding glass doors, creating an integrated space for entertainment and leisure. Here, the tender's presence is unobtrusive, discreetly placed to ensure that it does not impede the enjoyment of the dining experience. Additional seating options are available on the aft of the main deck, where guests can unwind during water sports activities or await the arrival of visitors.
Interior Design
The interior design integrates influences from Disdale's Tigre d'Or series but presents its own unique ambiance that is both sophisticated and subtly ethnic.
Upon entering the main deck, one is greeted by the impeccable craftsmanship of oak walls, where cut squares are meticulously arranged with alternating grain directions, creating a captivating visual dance that leads the eye upward to the hexagonal stairwell. This architectural marvel is not only a structural feature but also a canvas for dramatic downlighting, enhancing the sense of grandeur within the yacht's interior.
The main saloon and dining room are a masterclass in textural diversity and warm, earthy tones. Every surface invites interaction, from the vertically fluted door made of palm wood to the Macassar ebony dining table with its contrasting finishes. The room's functional design elements, such as the rough-cast glass peninsula and the bronze-bound chest, demonstrate Disdale's commitment to both aesthetics and practicality.
In the master bathroom, the "wow" factor is undeniable. The limestone relief of fossilized shells and the expansive use of natural limestone slabs emphasize a connection with nature, while the glass washbasins and textured columns add a touch of modernity. This stunning design is replicated in the en suite bathrooms of the guest quarters, where dramatic lighting and limestone features echo the master bath's natural elegance.
Throughout the yacht, Rahal's deck areas have been customized to meet the owner's preferences, balancing functional requirements with the luxury expected of a Feadship vessel. The deck design facilitates easy movement and provides ample space for relaxation and entertainment, all while maintaining the yacht's sleek and polished appearance.
Accommodation
Rahal's interior spaces cater to the comfort of guests with a harmonious blend of materials and textures that create a serene and luxurious environment, ensuring a stay aboard is nothing short of exceptional.
The yacht is configured to welcome up to twelve guests, providing a variety of stateroom options to suit diverse preferences. The guest quarters are meticulously designed, comprising five well-appointed staterooms, each an enclave of comfort and style.
The master suite, a crowning jewel aboard Rahal, is a sanctuary of tranquility for the discerning owner. The suite is composed of a generously sized bedroom with panoramic windows, a dedicated study or breakfast room, and a palatial en-suite bathroom. The bedroom is adorned with a range of textures and a consistent color palette, featuring a plush bed framed by elegant lacquered bedside cabinets. The space is illuminated by natural light through oval windows, complemented by discreet mood lighting for a soothing ambiance.
In addition to the master suite, Rahal accommodates guests in four additional staterooms, each with its own unique character and opulence. Two of these staterooms offer twin beds, complete with Pullman berths ingeniously concealed by oak grating, catering to versatile sleeping arrangements. The remaining two guest staterooms are furnished with larger double beds, creating a sumptuous retreat for couples. All guest staterooms are equipped with en-suite bathrooms that echo the master's in their luxurious use of materials, from limestone to rare marbles, and are fitted with both a bath and shower for the utmost comfort.
Rahal's commitment to guest well-being extends to ensuring they are looked after by a professional and attentive crew. The yacht is also equipped with dedicated crew accommodation for up to 12.
Performance & Capabilities
Rahal is powered by two Caterpillar 746kW eight-cylinder diesel engines, an esteemed choice for reliable marine propulsion. Rahal gracefully achieves a top speed of 14 knots. Her cruising speed is set to maximize both comfort and fuel efficiency, ensuring that guests can enjoy smooth sailing across the seas without compromising on performance.
Rahal is distinguished as the first Feadship yacht to incorporate the innovative ISCM system, seamlessly integrating the operation of the yacht's systems. This advanced technology aligns with her Lloyd's Unmanned Machinery Space (UMS) rating, allowing the yacht to be legally operated without an engineer present in the engine room. With this system, critical management and control functions can be performed directly from the bridge, showcasing a leap forward in yacht automation and operational efficiency.
The commitment to safety is evident in Rahal's adherence to stringent regulations. Her compliance with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) fire safety standards is demonstrated by the specially designed palmwood doors in the guest staterooms, which feature a robust core and innovative handle mechanisms for additional security. This attention to detail assures that safety is never compromised for style.
