Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.8m beam and a 3.4m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 1,400 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a touch and go heli-pad.

Construction started in late 2006. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of Trident is truly an impressive sight to behold. With her majestic length of 65.22 metres, she effortlessly commands attention. Developed by the renowned exterior stylist and interior designer Donald Starkey, Trident's design is a harmonious blend of elegance and modernity.

The yacht's most noticeable feature is her lean and elongated silhouette, a result of being some 4.9 metres longer than her predecessor, the Blue Moon. This elongation not only adds to her aesthetic appeal but also creates a lower and leaner appearance, enhancing the yacht's sleekness and modernity.

At dusk, Trident's underwater stern lights cast a mesmerizing glow that is occasionally disturbed by the turn of her propellers, creating a remarkable visual spectacle that is sure to captivate any onlooker.

When viewed from the stern, Trident's expansive aft deck is a welcoming sight. Although the concept may be traditional, it provides a well-sized relaxation area perfect for enjoying the open sea views. The tenders are stowed neatly in bays on either side of the bridge deck superstructure, maintaining the clean lines of the yacht's design.

Trident's sun deck is another area where guests can lounge and dine. Nestled behind the central mast structure is a second table, providing an alternative dining spot with panoramic views of the surrounding waters.

Interior Design

Drenched in opulence and elegance, the Trident's interior design is truly a masterpiece, reflecting the creative genius of renowned designer, Donald Starkey. Starkey's design philosophy, which beautifully marries form and function, is evident in every minute detail of the Trident. His exquisite touch is noticeable from the moment the doors between the aft deck and the saloon slide open, revealing a serene, texture-rich interior. The soothing cream and barley tones are complimented by the rich, dark woods, and punctuated by occasional splashes of vibrant color, adding a dynamic layer of life and interest to the space.

The main saloon has an almost square floor plan and the primary focus is the central group of sofas and easy chairs, set around three small tables that were designed by Edward Starkey, Donald Starkey's son. The saloon is flanked with intriguing cabinets set beneath the large windows, offering a mesmerizing view of the sea beyond. The room ends with a metal-framed screen, creating a dramatic divide with the dining room.

The interior materials are a symphony of exotic elements, including dark amazakoue wood from Africa, finished in both gloss and matte, and Japanese sen wood used on door panels. The custom-designed carpets from Taiping are cut into chocolate-block squares, adding a tactile dimension to the overall design. Hard black nero absolu granite adorns some surfaces, providing a contrast to the abundance of soft, textured upholstery fabrics. The leather-covered Venetian blinds, backlit onyx panels, and an array of decorative items contribute to the overall charm of the interior.

The dining room houses a grand table, capable of seating 16 guests in comfort when fully extended. Beyond the dining room lies the entrance lobby and stairwell, another spectacular area of the yacht. The marble-floored lobby houses the stairwell, which spirals around the central lift shaft that rises from the lower deck to the sun deck. The lift shaft appears to be encased in a solid block of strikingly grained walnut travertine, creating a visual spectacle.

Accommodation

With its sophisticated layout, Trident can comfortably host up to 14 guests. The yacht comprises of seven beautifully designed cabins, including a master suite, a VIP cabin and five further guest cabins, which are strategically positioned to ensure maximum privacy and tranquillity.

The master suite, located on the main deck, exudes a serene and restful atmosphere. The elegant bed appears to float above the carpet, while a sitting area with two plush armchairs and matching ottomans provide a space for relaxation. The suite is equipped with a generous dressing room featuring wardrobe doors of dramatic flame mahogany and niches displaying a collection of decorative ladies' handbags. The suite hosts two opulent bathrooms, ‘his’ and ‘hers’, each adorned with exquisite cherrywood marble and travertine finishes.

Adjacent to the master suite, the VIP cabin is furnished with a double bed and boasts large windows, offering splendid views. This cabin offers potential use as a family bedroom or even as a room for a bodyguard or personal assistant.

Positioned on the lower deck, the remaining guest cabins provide a unique level of flexibility. The two aft-most cabins can be united to form a suite, where the beds from one cabin are reconfigured to create a sitting room. This can be repeated with two of the forward cabins, while the fifth cabin is a double. The layout offers the possibility of creating a sixth cabin in this area, but in Trident, this room has been optimally utilized as a gymnasium and massage room.

Trident not only delivers exceptional accommodation for guests but also prioritizes the comfort of its crew. The yacht houses a large mess and seven double or double-bunked cabins, all with en suite shower rooms. These spaces are furnished and decorated in a pleasant, easily maintainable style, ensuring a comfortable stay for the crew.

Performance & Capabilities

Trident is an exquisite demonstration of mechanical prowess and superior design. This 65.22-metre yacht is powered by two 1,400kW MTU diesel engines, driving fixed pitch propellers, which provide a smooth and efficient propulsion system. This system is standard for a steel-hulled displacement yacht of this magnitude, exhibiting the tried-and-true engineering Feadship is known for.

An extraordinary feature of Trident is her retractable Azipod unit, located centrally between her shafts. This unit serves dual purposes, acting as both a stern thruster and an emergency propulsion system. In case of a primary propulsion failure, the Azipod, powered by the yacht's three MTU generators, can propel Trident to the nearest port at a speed of approximately six knots, ensuring the safety and convenience of all on board.

Her bow thruster, a 200kW unit manufactured by Jastram, is designed for quiet operation, eliminating the disruptive noise commonly associated with such machinery. This is achieved by injecting compressed air into the tunnel, completely eliminating blade cavitation. This is yet another example of Trident's design focus on the comfort and luxury of its passengers.

Trident's engine room, set in the stern, is a marvel of engineering and construction. It is laid out logically and united with wiring and pipework that is perfectly organized and symmetrically placed, demonstrating the high standards that Feadship adheres to. The engine room, along with generators and other major noise and vibration sources, are strategically located away from the owner and guest cabins, ensuring a serene and quiet environment throughout the yacht.

The fuel capacity of Trident is an impressive 148,000 liters, allowing for an astounding range of 6,700 nautical miles. This gives Trident the ability to undertake long voyages without the need for frequent refuelling, adding to the convenience and comfort of the passengers.

Trident's stabilizers ensure a smooth and comfortable ride regardless of sea conditions. They help reduce roll motion effect and result in a smoother, more enjoyable cruising experience. This demonstrates Feadship's commitment to providing not just luxury, but also comfort and safety to their yacht owners and guests.

Moreover, Trident's crew and service facilities follow Feadship's impeccable standards. The yacht includes a tank deck with full headroom below the lower deck, housing a series of dry food stores, storage refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms, all beautifully finished to suit their purpose.

Amenities

A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. In addition, a swim platform is on hand for guests looking to cool off in the sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort and an elevator makes the yacht fully-accessible. Crowning the yacht is a spacious sundeck with an inviting spread of sunpads and deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
