Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement ice class steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 12.3m beam and a 3.5m draft. The yacht is built over 5 decks with an internal volume of 1,462 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a touch and go heli-pad.

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

The yacht Archimedes showcases classic Feadship styling with a raked bow, clean lines leading aft, and a steeply angled stern. Its Matterhorn white and silver superstructure contrasts elegantly with a distinguished Carinthia blue hull.

A touch-and-go helipad on the foredeck doubles as a lounging space and allows for good visibility from the bridge. A telescopic mast and deeply recessed operational foredeck area hide the anchoring and mooring hardware to maintain the sleek profile.

The yacht carries two 27-foot tenders stowed in 20-inch deep deck wells on the aft deck, deployed using gantry cranes. When the tenders are removed and the deck wells are hydraulically raised to be flush with the main deck, the area transforms into a principal entertaining space, enhancing Archimedes' graceful lines.

The stern swim platform, accessed via twin staircases from the main deck aft, features a recessed bathing platform and a portside beach shell door for easy transitions between the yacht and the sea.

The aft sun deck offers a relaxing entertainment area with a large marble mosaic jacuzzi, sun pads, a curved shaded bar, a barbecue, and al fresco dining.

The bridge deck aft features sliding glass panels above the bulwarks for shelter and comfort, along with wind-stop doors to either side deck. This casual area includes a large, extendable dining table that seats 20 guests, positioned fore and aft on the port side to provide most seated guests with a view over the yacht's sides.

Interior Design

The owner required a versatile design that combines personality and comfort, suitable for both intimate family gatherings and large parties.

For intimate settings, the bridge deck lounge offers a cozy retreat with divided relaxation areas, a bar, and a games table. A large flatscreen television pops up from the low-level bookcase. The owner's study features a genuine wood-burning fireplace surrounded by built-in shelving, soft leather dark green armchairs, a Persian rug, and dark wood flooring, creating an elegant and intimate atmosphere.

For larger gatherings, the interior has a traditional design with a lighter touch, reminiscent of the 1920s. Cherrywood paneling, chosen for its warm and mellow aging, provides a colorful yet subtly muted feel that creates harmony throughout. Accents of Greek artwork are included as a homage to the yacht's namesake.

On the main deck, wide sliding doors seamlessly define the spaces between the main saloon, dining area, and main foyer, allowing for unity or separation as needed. The extending dining table, crafted in England from cherrywood and adorned with ebony and satinwood inlays, seats from 8 to 20 guests. A striking 5-inch-diameter bronze-finished dome light hangs centered over the table, creating a sophisticated ambiance that complements the cambered beam ceilings and cherry paneling.

The elegant theme extends to the saloon, featuring comfortable sofas in the center and a stunning rosewood Bluethner grand piano on the starboard side. A card table and reading chairs balance the port side. Forward of the main foyer, encircled by the main stairway and served by an elevator spanning four decks, is the owner's suite. It includes a family cabin, owner's study, and a full-width master stateroom with twin bathrooms and dressing areas. Adjacent to the stateroom's port side is a beautifully handcrafted bonheur du jour, custom-designed for the owner's wife.

A subtle Greek theme pervades the yacht's interior, reflected in the owner's selected artworks and onboard accents. Exceptional honed marble mosaics, inspired by Greek mythological figures and designs, adorn each bathroom floor. For instance, the main deck day head features a mosaic depicting the mermaid Skylla, while the washbasin resembles travertine marble atop a distressed stand reminiscent of an ancient column. The bridge deck dayhead boasts an octopus floor design, while the six guest cabins on the lower deck illustrate Greek galleys, dolphins, and the seahorses Hippocampus. The owners' bathrooms depict Poseidon and his wife Amphitrite, adding depth and character to Archimedes' interior decor.
