The first Magellano 30 Metri, the new flagship model of Azimut’s trawler-inspired Magellano line, has been launched in Viareggio.
The Magellano line is what the Italian yard describes as its ‘crossover line’, with a focus on long stays on board and lengthy cruises with low fuel consumption and a wide range of speeds. Accordingly, the Owner of the first hull has already expressed their desire to use it for long-distance voyages.
Azimut has collaborated with the same team that was responsible for the previous flagship in the Magellano line, the 25 Metri, on this new 30m (98ft) superyacht. Ken Freivokh is responsible for the refined and modern exteriors, characterized by a signature feature of the Magellano line, teak louvers that close and complement the extensive glazed surfaces in the superstructure, whilst Vincenzo De Cotiis has penned the spacious, light-filled interiors.
The design has a strong focus on a close connection with the sea, no matter where on the three decks of the 30 Metri you are, from the Infinity Terrace that welcomes guests on board to the generous terrace on the Upper Deck. More than 70 square meters (753 sq. ft) of glazed surfaces offer a view of both the sea and the sky from every point on the yacht.
Environmental sustainability is another key aspect of the Magellano 30 Metri and a second-generation Dual Mode hull reduces fuel consumption by around 15% in comparison to traditional hard chine planing hulls. The motor yacht is also fitted with a Hotel Mode package, which includes 100kWh lithium batteries so that she can stay at anchor with zero emissions for up to four hours during the day and eight hours at night.
Azimut Yachts launched its Magellano range in 2009, as its own take on the trawler yacht. It is characterized by a two-chine hull that gives it near vertical bows and a comfortable ride. It features classic hallmarks of trawler yachts, such as raised bulwarks and a raised helm position, whilst inside the styling is modern and more in keeping with a long-range motor yacht.
