British builder Fairline has announced the return of a name ‘synonymous’ with the yard as it reveals its first sportsbridge yacht, the 20m (65ft) Phantom 65.
The model is the first in a new line that draws inspiration from the builder’s Squadron and Targa ranges, whilst reflecting the history of the yard by taking its name from its successful Phantom range which first appeared in 1974.
The Phantom 65 offers a combination of the volume of Fairline’s Squadron range, whilst utilizing the technical platform of its Targa 65. The new model has a sleek streamlined profile, with large expansive hull windows and a glazed sunroof to bathe its interior with natural light.
The yacht has been designed with a strong eye on flexibility and entertaining, with a main deck that has a range of useable spaces from generous dining to comfortable salon seating and features a sociable bar that extends into the cockpit.
The Phantom 65 is available in either a three or four-cabin version with a full-beam Owner’s cabin amidships, a VIP cabin in the bow and a twin guest cabin to starboard. The fourth cabin is to starboard, but if not specified it can be used as either a utility space or a fourth-shower room and day head. There is also a tender garage that can house a Williams 345 SportJet
Performance-wise there is the option of twin Caterpillar C18-1150’s with a top speed of 31 knots or twin V12 Caterpillar C32-1622’s with a maximum speed in excess of 35 knots.
Fairline’s Chief Executive Officer, Paul Grys, expressed his excitement about the new model: “We are pleased to present our first sportbridge model, offering the enhanced space of a flybridge with the sportiness of our Targa models” he said. “The Phantom name has long been synonymous with Fairline and whilst we’ve kept the name, that is where the similarities end. The Phantom 65 is an all-new sportbridge yacht, elegant, dynamic, clean and unfussy in its design, whilst offering the handling and performance Fairline always delivers.”
The Phantom 65 is due to launch this summer and is expected to make its public debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
The history of Fairline’s Phantom series goes back to 1974, when its raised bridge Phantom 32 was introduced. The line ran as a fully-fledged series from 1994 until 2009, going up to the 15.8m (52ft) Phantom 50 in size, although it was the Phantom 46 that proved the most popular selling around 200 hulls in an eight-year production run from 1998 to 2006.
The Phantom series will join a Fairline fleet that includes its F//Line of weekender sportsboats, its iconic Targa range of sharp sports yachts and its Squadron range of stylish flybridge yachts. To explore its varied fleet in more detail view all Fairline yachts for sale.
