The countdown to the largest in-water boat show in the world is well and truly on, with the 62nd edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) now less than a month away.
The five-day event runs from 27 October to 31 October and showcases more world and U.S. debuts than any other boat show in America. FLIBS is looking to carry on the momentum from last year when it was the first major yachting event to go ahead since the start of COVID crisis in the spring of 2020.
We are excited to welcome back the global community of visitors and exhibitors to the 2021 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show,” said Andrew Doole, President of U.S. Boat Shows with Informa Markets, who produces the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. “In 2020, Informa was able to host an incredibly successful event that exceeded industry expectations despite the pandemic, and we anticipate that the 2021 boat show will raise the bar even higher for boating exhibitions”.
Spread over seven locations, across six miles of floating decks, over 80 percent of the show takes place in the open air in the sunny South Florida climate. Somewhere in the region of 1,500 boats are expected to be on display as the boating industry experiences unprecedented demand as confirmed at the recent Cannes Yachting Festival and Monaco Yacht Show.
The range of boats will run from 2m (6.5ft) runabouts up to some of the world’s most spectacular superyachts on show at the dedicated Superyacht Village, an area introduced in 2019 for the 60th edition of FLIBS.
Other highlights this year include the AquaZone, an area designed to give show-goers first-hand experience of a variety of water sports and marine products and Hook the Future, a variety of fishing clinics aimed at children aged 4 to 16.
Strict health and safety measures will once again be in place and an extensive shuttle bus service and water taxi services will make getting around the show easy, despite its size.
The show will be looking to top the 2019 edition when over $4billion of products were on display and $714million in products were sold over the five-day event.
