Genoa Boat Show's 62nd edition set for success

Opening its doors one week today, the Genoa International Boat Show is gearing up as the 1,000 expected exhibitors begin taking their places.

Boasting five tailored zones, the 2022 edition covers a surface area of over 200,000 sqm on both land and water and is scheduled to run from 22-27 September.

Annually attracting well-known Italian shipyards such as Ferretti Yachts, Benetti and Azimut, as well as a broad collection of international yards, the 2022 Genoa International Boat Show is the ideal platform to view the latest 'Made in Italy' masterpieces.

Held annually at the Piazzale John Fitzgerald Kennedy, crowds often amount to the region of 190,000, and with so much on offer, it's not a surprise why so many make the journey to see the event in action.

Visitors to the show can explore five zones, covering varying elements of the yachting lifestyle. They are:

  • Yachts & Superyachts
  • Sailing World
  • Boating discovery
  • Tech Trade
  • Living the Sea

Panning an outdoor section totaling eight quays, around 240 vessels, and the show's trademark pavilion that is split into two floors, there's a lot of ground to cover throughout the six-day event but with all zones clearly mapped out, the transition around the show is seamless.

Among all the exhibits and yachts in the docks, Friday 23 September will host an additional event, namely the Design Innovation Awards.

Divided into nine categories, the overall aim of the awards ceremony is to commend the brands that have excelled in areas such as research, innovation, formal and technical quality and sustainability.

Now in its third edition, the awards are presented following a process entailed by a curated judging panel that looks at all the new products exhibited at the Genoa International Boat Show.

When choosing the winners, the awards reflect the skills of the designers and manufacturers, while also "showcasing tangible indications of how the sector is evolving".
