Heesen sells 55m Steel superyacht Project Pollux

The 55m (180.5’) superyacht has six luxurious cabins, a creative and sociable Bannenberg-&-Rowell-designed interior, and a range of 4,500 nautical miles.

Dutch shipyard Heesen has sold the fourth hull of its 55m Steel model, Project Pollux.

Designed by Omega Architects and with a classy interior penned by Bannenberg & Rowell, the 55m (180.5’) superyacht is currently undergoing sea trials, ahead of delivery to her Owner in 2021.

Built for accommodating up to twelve guests on long and very sociable cruises, this second-largest yacht of the Heesen Steel range for sale has six cabins – as well as a beach club, jacuzzi and multiple bars – across its four decks. A staircase connects multiple decks amidships.

Her two engines and ultra-efficient steel hull give Project Pollux a 4,500-nautical-mile range and a top speed of 13 knots.

POLLUX has a skylounge with its own bar.

Main and lower decks: sophisticated main salon and luxurious cabin spaces

Guests enter the main salon via electronic sliding doors. Inside is a communal area with calm and sophisticated design work. Ceiling-high windows are found to port and starboard. There’s also a bar on the starboard side and bookcases.

Forward is a dining area that can seat all twelve guests and, past that, the Owner’s cabin. The 86 sq. m (925.5 sq. ft) space provides private space for work and relaxation, and continues the theme of smooth, soothing woods that started in the salon. The accompanying en-suite is similarly appealing thanks to its use of marble.

Using the leather-lined spiral staircase amidships, guests can head downstairs to find an additional four cabins.

The Owner cabin is found forward on the main deck.

Upper deck: skylounge and VIP cabin

The upper deck of the 55m Steel yacht for sale has a skylounge with another bar area and, like the main salon, large, high windows, creating a near-panoramic ocean view.

The deck also has the sixth cabin, a VIP room to the starboard side.

Exterior: scenic sundeck and beach club with steam room aft

The sundeck of Project Pollux provides space for sunning and socialising thanks to its bar, open dining area and large jacuzzi.

Forward, the foredeck houses the tender garage, which can also store watertoys. On the lower deck aft, meanwhile, is a beach club so that guests can unwind close to the waterline. It has a steam room and a sauna, as well as a swimming platform so that they can easily dive into the waves below.

Performance and remarkable range

POLLUX has an efficient steel FDHF (fast displacement hull form) hull, which can operate in both displacement and semi-displacement speed ranges. Architect Peter van Oossanen claims this design gives her 15% less resistance when travelling at higher speeds, saving fuel.

A pair of engines give the superyacht a top speed of 15.5 knots. At her 13-knot cruising speed, she has a brilliant range of 4,500 nautical miles, meaning she is well-suited to transatlantic voyages.

Project Pollux is currently undergoing sea trials in the North Sea and be delivered to her Owner next year. You can get your own yacht from the same line by browsing 55m Steel yachts available to buy.
