Hong Kong's Lantau Yacht Club welcomes first yachts after soft opening

Completing their first phase on schedule, the refurbished Lantau Yacht Club Marina has welcomed its first visitors including a Ferretti Yachts 670, a yacht which first made its debut at the 2018 Cannes Yachting Festival.

Established in 1989 and formerly known as the Discovery Bay Marina Club, the newly developed Lantau Yacht Club Marina is the area's first custom built superyacht marina.

Beginning works at the start of 2019, the Hong Kong Resort Company Limited reported their intent to construct around 150 berths to accommodate superyachts up to 100m.

The original report has been adhered to, with 148 berths now enduring completion within the Discovery Bay residential area.

In addition to the creation of new berths, extensive refurbishment has also been made to the amenities, including a new-look clubhouse which is due to open in late October 2020.

As an ideal port of call on route to mainland China, professional boat repair and maintenance services are also set for opening within the marina, providing everything a visiting yacht would need for oceangoing voyages.

Constructions including concrete pontoons and updated fire and safety installations have transformed Lantau Yacht Club in to 'a typhoon-proof marina, offering the best-possible safety and protection for all berthed vessels'.

As Lantau Yacht Club will also attract superyachts from other parts of the world, a number of berths will be reserved for visiting yachts.
