Sunseeker reveals name of highly anticipated Project 8X

British shipyard Sunseeker has named the highly anticipated Project 8X due to launch in Summer 2020 as 87 Yacht.

Scheduled to be built in the brand new production facility at Sunseeker's Dorset-based shipyard, the new 87 Yacht offers a staggering extension on the previous 86 Yacht with a 20% increase of space.

Following on from the announcement that an extensive new product development plan is underway, it's only natural that the new 87 Yacht model incorporates some unique innovative solutions.

In addition to the impressive 20% growth in volume, the 87 Yacht also hosts a flybridge 25% larger than other comparative yachts of the same size range.

With volume being a large USP for the new Sunseeker vessel, it comes as no surprise that all areas of the yacht, both interior and exterior, offer substantial space to socialise with and entertain guests on board.

The striking exteriors of the 87 Yacht are a first glimpse of the newer style of exterior lines to come from the Sunseeker fleet. Modifications have been made to provide a larger beach club for owners to socialise with their guests in comfort. Options such as the choice to include an infinity pool can make the prestigious vessel even more luxurious, but a standard 140-inch screen with laser projector is ultimately an exterior entertainment option to create excitement for all ages.

Easy access to watersports from the beach club is provided by the Bezenzoni ‘Ladder Gangway’, making it seamless for guests to alternate between adrenaline pumped sessions on the waves and relaxing spells on the sunbathers. Fun in the sun is yet another key feature of the yacht with extensive storage space, plus hydraulic launch system, for a Jet Ski, a 15’ Williams 460 SportJet and two SeaBobs.

In addition to the sunbathers positioned around the vessel, 87 Yacht is integrated with the innovative ‘X-TEND’ sunbeds. Controlled electronically, the sunbeds can be raised to face the cockpit area or lowered to join the beach club. This unique solution means additional relaxation space can be placed where it's needed throughout the day for premium socialising time.

Further areas for guests to relax on board the new addition to the Sunseeker Yacht range include the cockpit. A choice of freestanding or fixed furniture is available in the area alongside a fully integrated wet bar and electronic privacy blind.

For a bit more of a view, owners and their guests can retire to the flybridge for sweeping panoramic views and a  full-width retractable canopy which can provide the shade needed when required. Another wet bar plus ice maker is situated on the flybridge, as well as an attractive al fresco dining option for evening meals under the stars.

On to the interiors, a spacious main saloon measures up at 8.8 metres by 5.6 metres and provides ample room for plush seating and a chaise longue. A formal dining option can also be positioned to port or starboard, accompanied by an apartment-style galley which can be partitioned off for privacy. Full-length windows light up the entire living area with natural light, accentuating the timeless but contemporary interior styling.

The ‘X-TEND’ sunbed system is yet another example of the extraordinary talent we hold in-house and is set to become a defining feature across many of our future models. Whilst Sunseeker is well known for its craftsmanship and leading the way in terms of engineering and design, this is Sunseeker innovation at its best and continues to set us apart from our competition.
