Heesen’s 67m Fast Displacement build progresses

The Heesen superyacht, Project Sparta, has had her hull turned as her build continues at pace towards a scheduled delivery in 2023.

Project Sparta will use Heesen's favoured Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) developed with Van Oossenan naval architects, and will be the largest steel constructed FD yacht to date when launched.

The 67m (217ft) Heesen superyacht, originally known as YN20067, is the result of a collaboration with British-based Winch Designs on the interiors and exteriors. Van Oossanen Naval Architects patented FDHF is designed to reduce resistance at all speeds and estimated to increase efficiency by around 15 to 20 percent.

“The turning of the hull marks a special moment in the construction of this exceptional project, and brings with it a great sense of pride and accomplishment to all involved,” said Jim Dixon, director of Yachts & Aviation at Winch. “It is always a pleasure to watch our designs turn into reality, and we look forward to following the next stage of her development in Heesen’s capable hands.”

Boasting an internal volume of 1,200 GT, Project Sparta features a huge main salon that occupies the full 11.5m (37.5ft) beam and a formal dining set up with direct access to a protected terrace.

A spiral staircase and glass elevator ensures connectivity between the lower deck, main deck and bridge deck and guests will also have access to a wellness area complete with a gym, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The sun deck will play host to a second jacuzzi, along with a bar and large sunpads and the transom area features a 6.5m (21.5ft) infinity pool.

Twin MTU 12V4000 M65R diesel engines will give Project Sparta a top speed of 16 knots and a range of 4,500nm at 12 knots.

Project Sparta was originally unveiled as Project Avanti at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2018 and sold to an experienced charterer and yacht connoisseur the following year. She is set to be delivered in 2023.

Whilst she may be the world’s largest FDHF yacht in build, Project Sparta isn’t the largest Heesen under construction at the moment. That honor falls to 80.7m (265ft) COSMOS, set for delivery next year. To explore Heesen’s impressive fleet fully view all Heesen yachts for sale.
