Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 20m beam and a 5.5m draft. The yacht is built over 5 decks with an internal volume of 8,489 GT (Gross Tonnes). The design also incorporates a heli-pad.
The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in October 2016 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in August 2017.
Exterior Design
Al Lusail stands out with its unmistakable and futuristic design. The incorporation of large glass facades not only provides sweeping panoramic views but also allows natural light to penetrate deep into the yacht. While adhering to Lurssen's signature sharply raked bow and foredeck, it's the amidships where Al Lusail becomes really interesting.
The superstructure is a masterpiece of curves, featuring recessed areas and arches that extend beyond the standard profile, giving the yacht an intriguing rather than sleek appearance.
When viewed from astern, the design brilliance of H2 Yacht Design becomes evident. The imposing rear showcases double grand staircases flanking a metallic blue tower, that provide access to the beach club transom area. Tinted glass canopies, integrated into the superstructure levels, add both interest and a visual contrast against the grey backdrop.
At the summit, the navigation and communication tower is nothing short of impressive. Large steel pipes cradled by arms not only exude a sense of power but also emphasize the yacht's commitment to connectivity, safety, and assurance. The tech elements are not concealed; instead, they are embraced, further reinforcing the vessel's technological prowess.
Accessed through side openings, the tender and toys garage of Al Lusail is designed to maintain a clutter-free environment on this busy yacht, to ensure that the lines, waves, and curves defining the yacht's exterior remain uninterrupted. Situated on the foredeck, the helipad takes precedence, positioned forward of a thoughtfully enclosed structure. This enclosure not only offers shelter but also guarantees privacy over the interior zones, leading to an exclusive private deck space.
Interior Design
The interior design of Al Lusail reflects a modern aesthetic that emphasizes space and light, a concept brought to life by the design team at H2 Yacht Design. The atrium is a central feature, offering expansive circulation areas that are bathed in natural light, enhancing the sense of openness within the yacht. This design choice effectively reduces the prevalence of extended hallways, creating a more inviting interior landscape.
Large expanses of deeply tinted glass are a defining characteristic, providing privacy while also contributing to the yacht’s profile. The glass allows for natural light to penetrate the living spaces without compromising the interior climate or comfort. Turquoise painted surfaces are employed thoughtfully, delivering striking contrasts that punctuate the yacht's color palette.
Accommodation
Al Lusail offers accommodation for up to 36 guests in 18 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 56 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (20V 1163 M84) 7,512hp engines, motor yacht Al Lusail is capable of reaching a top speed of 19 knots, and comfortably cruises at 12 knots. With her 500,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 4,500 nautical miles. She has been fitted with stabilizers to increase on-board comfort when the yacht is at anchor, particularly in rough waters.
