Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 8.9m beam and a 2.2m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 495 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in mid 2016 with the keel laid under the project name 'Project Aston'. Launched in April 2018 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in July 2018.

Exterior Design

Flying Dagger III's exterior design draws direct inspiration from the sleek lines and dynamic curves of Aston Martin automobiles. This yacht features a sporty aesthetic with automotive-inspired exterior lines and taut curves that create a dynamic look. The design was specifically crafted to reflect a sense of speed and agility, highlighted by the yacht's ability to reach a top speed of 31 knots during sea trials.

The yacht's structure includes bow windows that protrude from the hull, which maximize the glazed area to enhance visibility and light without disrupting the overall design. The foredeck is equipped with a large, communal sunpad built low into the structure, maintaining the yacht's lines and ensuring clear visibility from the bridge. A convertible table on the sundeck allows this space to be used for both sunbathing and al fresco dining.

Flying Dagger III also features subtle LED exterior lighting, designed to accentuate its significant curves. This lighting not only adds a functional element for visibility but also allows the yacht to be easily identified at anchor from a distance.

Interior Design

Lazzarini Pickering Architetti, the design studio responsible for the Flying Dagger III's interior, focuses on creating an environment that is both aesthetically pleasing and practical for day-to-day use.

The main saloon reflects a thoughtful approach to space utilization, incorporating intelligent design elements that enhance both comfort and aesthetics. The use of mirrors along the ceiling and window frames creates an illusion of expanded space, while also bringing reflections of the water into the interior. This clever use of reflective surfaces contributes to a brighter and more open atmosphere. The saloon's flexible design features console tables that can be joined to form a dining table, providing versatility for entertaining guests.

Throughout the yacht, lightweight materials have been chosen to maintain the vessel's speed and performance. The design team opted for paper-based materials in the decor, such as custom wallpapers that mimic natural elements like ripples on sand or clouds. This choice balances aesthetic appeal with the necessity of keeping weight to a minimum.

Accommodation

Flying Dagger III offers accommodation for guests with a focus on comfort and connection to the natural surroundings. The yacht can host 10 guests across 5 well-appointed cabins. The owner’s cabin is a standout feature, offering a serene space with elegant design elements, including cool grey tones and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open onto a fixed balcony. This configuration maximizes natural light and provides unobstructed views, enhancing the sense of space.

In the guest cabins, a continuation of the yacht's theme of nature and elements is evident. Special attention was given to weight considerations, leading to the use of lightweight materials such as custom French papier peint, creating a unique atmosphere within each cabin. The custom decor reflects variations on a cloud theme, contributing to the overall serene ambiance.

She is also capable of carrying up to 9 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by 3 x diesel MTU (16V 2000 M96L) 2,600hp engines, motor yacht Flying Dagger is capable of reaching a top speed of 31 knots, and comfortably cruises at 24 knots. She has a maximum range of 3,300 nautical miles at 12 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
