Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 13.5m beam and a 3.8m draft. The yacht is built over 5 decks with an internal volume of 2,334 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in late 2006 with the keel laid under the project name 'Bermuda'. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Rocinante has a light blue hull that contrasts with the white superstructure and large radar domes that draw the eye upward, diminishing the bulk of the vessel below.

The main deck aft serves as a versatile outdoor salon, offering guests an inviting space to gather, with seating, a table, and an expansive sunbed. Moving up to the owner's deck, an additional outdoor area provides a more secluded setting for relaxed conversations post-dinner.

The bridge deck is dedicated to navigation and includes an aft helipad, complete with refueling station and storage. The sundeck above is thoughtfully designed to provide privacy and panoramic views. It features sunken seats, a shaded central area, a pool equipped with a jet stream, and a bar flanked by submerged stools for guests to enjoy their drinks while immersed in the water. A smaller Jacuzzi pool is situated just forward, adding to the array of leisure options available to guests.

Interior access points are well positioned, with a staircase and elevator connecting the various decks and reinforcing the sensible flow of movement throughout the yacht. The exterior's practicality extends to the lower deck, where a relaxation area opens onto a terrace, and a spacious garage houses personal watercraft and tenders, ensuring a wide array of water sports and shore excursions can be facilitated with ease.

Quality materials and refined color schemes create an environment onboard Rocinante that is both elegant and comfortable.

Interior Design

Within the Rocinante's interior, an emphasis on high-quality materials is evident. The use of wood is extensive, particularly in areas such as the bathrooms, contributing to a warm and inviting atmosphere. Wood varieties include zebrano, which adds visual interest to furniture and paneling, and maple veneer, complemented by exotic wood inlays that resemble water bubbles.

The yacht's interior color palette features a range of hues, each guest cabin adhering to a unique scheme that unifies ceiling inlays, cushions, and throws. The skylounge stands out with its vibrant blue fabrics and a central tan ottoman, while a cabinet sporting a coral hue injects an additional splash of color. The skylounge also doubles as a dining area and living space, with the capacity to accommodate 12 guests for al fresco dining, thanks to the opening windows and sliding glass doors. The main salon, with its structural columns that provide support and ventilation, is organized into conversation areas and an entertainment section centered around a TV screen.

On the lower decks, there is a spa, Turkish bath, and massage room, providing guests with an intimate setting for rest and rejuvenation. The adjoining gym opens onto a terrace, further blurring the distinction between indoor and outdoor relaxation.

The bridge deck is designed for operational efficiency, housing a spacious wheelhouse equipped with cutting-edge navigation technology from Raytheon and Saab. The console is flanked by a large chart table and comfortable seating, inviting guests to observe the art of navigation. The adjacent lobby includes cabins for staff and a well-appointed captain's quarters.

Accommodation

Rocinante can host 12 guests in its eight well-appointed cabins, comprising an owner's cabin, five VIP cabins, one double cabin and a twin cabin.

The owner's private suite is situated forward on the owner's deck and boasts a panoramic 180-degree view through the surrounding windows, enhanced by direct access to a private terrace equipped with a sofa and a personal Jacuzzi. The suite includes a king-size bed, perfectly positioned to take full advantage of the view. The owner’s suite is flanked by two spacious bathrooms, each fitted with wood finishes rather than traditional marble, one featuring a shower and the other offering both a shower and bathtub.

The yacht includes additional cabins that are expertly designed for comfort, each featuring a distinct color palette that extends from the ceiling inlays to the decorative cushions and throws. These cabins provide space for guests to relax and unwind in their own personal retreats. In particular, there is a cabin that is ideally suited for children, ensuring that families feel right at home.

For the crew, the Rocinante offers accommodations that ensure the highest level of service and operation. The crew quarters include 12 cabins, allowing the professional team to reside comfortably on board.

Performance & Capabilities

Equipped with two Caterpillar 3516 engines, each delivering 2,700 horsepower, Rocinante's machinery provides a formidable thrust that propels the yacht to a maximum speed of 17 knots. At a cruising speed of 15 to 16 knots, the yacht maintains a consistent and smooth voyage, demonstrating the harmony between power and efficiency inherent in its design.

The yacht's propulsion system is complemented by two gearboxes from Reintjes and two Piening fixed propellers, paired with Rolls Royce steering gears and two lift rudders. The yacht's bow thruster, a Brunvoil 240kw unit, affords additional agility, particularly during docking maneuvers.

With a considerable fuel capacity of 126,000 litres, Rocinante boasts an impressive range of 6,000 nautical miles when cruising at 12 knots.

Stability is paramount for a vessel of Rocinante's stature, and this is achieved through the integration of four quantum zero speed stabilizers. These state-of-the-art systems work to minimize the roll of the yacht, enhancing comfort for passengers, whether at anchor or underway.

Amenities

A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. An elevator makes the yacht fully-accessible, while air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Rocinante also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
