142m Lürssen Superyacht DRAGONFLY Departs Shipyard on Maiden Voyage

After her official handover last week, Lürssen's hybrid-powered 142m (466.2ft) superyacht DRAGONFLY has left the German shipyard and is making her way to the UK before making her maiden voyage to the Mediterranean.

The 142m (465.9ft) superyacht DRAGONFLY has officially left the Lemwerder facility in Germany and is heading for Portsmouth in the UK. Then the Lürssen motor yacht will spend several days adding rails to her transform for an inflatable beach platform at the MB92 facility in Barcelona.

Designed by the Argentinian design office German Frers, her naval architecture was developed in-house by Lürssen, while Nauta Design handled the interior and exterior deck spaces. She has large exterior decks, with the aft deck covering nearly half her profile. Her interior remains confidential but the design and grey color palette evoke the appearance of a sleek naval speedboat.

Her delivery secures her 17th place on the prestigous Yachtbuyer YB100 list, the definitive ranking of the world's biggest superyachts measured by Gross Tonnage. With 9.4087GT, she sits between superyacht Al Mirqab and Cresent

The delivery of the 142m Dragonfly marks the fourth superyacht completed by Lürssen in 2024, solidifying the shipyard’s unmatched dominance in the large yacht sector. With Dragonfly joining the ranks of the 145m superyacht Luminance - the largest Lürssen delivery this year—and the striking 122m Kismet and the 82m Haven. Each vessel showcases Lürssen’s ability to cater to diverse owner preferences, with Luminance, Kismet and Dragonfly epitomizing grandeur and technological innovation, while Haven highlight the shipyard’s versatility in creating yachts of varying sizes and functions, without compromising on luxury or performance.

Originally named Ali Baba, her construction began in 2019. The superyacht emerged from the construction shed in May 2022, ready for assembly. DRAGONFLY launched in December 2023, revealing her four decks that merge elegance with a military aesthetic. Her design features Lürssen's signature elongated bow, angular contours, and bold exterior elements.

DRAGONFLY completed her sea trials near Brunsbüttel, Germany, in September 2024.
