Nobiskrug’s 80m (262ft) superyacht ARTEFACT was the big winner at the recently announced International Yacht and Aviation Awards.
The eye-catching 2,999GT superyacht won two of the main categories in the awards which provide a platform for designers, architects and shipyards to showcase their design schemes and innovative ideas.
Here we take a look at some of the main winners:
ARTEFACT
Winner: Motor Yacht Over 60m and Interior Design Over 40m
Featuring exterior design by Gregory C. Marshall and interior design by Reymond Langton, ARTEFACT’s radical, asymmetrical window shapes and expansive glazing caught the eye of the panel. The engineering features designed to minimalism her environmental impact, including the use of solar panels and a large battery storage system, an innovative DC-bus diesel-electric Azipod propulsion system, a wastewater recycling system and dynamic positioning system were also noted.
In declaring her the winner in the Best Motor Yacht Over 60m category, she was praised as “the attention to detail with engineering and technology underlying the yacht is matched with a modern, characterful style and atmosphere with clever use of materials.”
ARTEFACT also picked up the Interior Design Award Over 40m, with her on board experience being recognized for its “expansive views in all directions, on board privacy between areas both indoors and outdoors, grand public spaces and intimate private ones”.
GECO
Winner: Motor Yacht Over 40m
The 55m (180ft) charter yacht GECO was described as “an authentic Made-in-Italy masterpiece of shapes, lines and innovative solutions” in taking home the Best Motor Yacht over 40m category.
GECO was delivered by Admiral Yachts of the Italian Sea Group, who worked with GMC Architecture on both her interior and exterior design, and both areas of design were noted by the award judges.
Her bright and sinuous exterior was noted for its “refined and sophisticated” chromatic scheme, whilst her upper deck was described as being of “extraordinary beauty and functionality”. In turn her interiors mix “a timeless French allure mixed with more contemporary Italian design” to create a “decidedly sophisticated environment with an international flavor”.
Her color scheme and strict attention to detail were also highly praised.
Mangusta GranSport 33
Winner: Motor Yacht 25-40m
Not to be outdone by its larger sister, the GranSport 45, winning a World Superyacht Award at the end of last year, Mangusta’s GranSport 33 was named the Best Motor Yacht in the 25m to 40m category.
The 33m (108ft) superyacht was particularly noted for her “outstanding performances and unmatched efficiency”. Alberton Mancini’s work on her exterior design was recognized for creating a strong personality and expressing Mangusta’s, “distinctive Mediterranean lifestyle to the fullest”.
Whilst it was accepted that the GranSport 33 is the entry-level yacht in Mangusta’s GranSport line, her spacious volumes were praised and it was concluded that she can be “defined as a 33-meters vessel with the heart and soul of a true mega yacht.”
FLORENTIA
Winner: Main Salon
Rossinavi’s 52m (170ft) superyacht FLORENTIA won the award for the best main salon, drawing much attention for its genuinely homely feeling and “atmosphere of peace and relaxation”.
Inspired by the shapes of nature, the sea and the waves, the neutral colors and precious materials used in AA+ and Carlo Colombo’s interior design won much praise and the yacht was described as a “timeless jewel with soft and sinuous lines”.
Large windows along the entire side of the boat, combined with sliding windows and aft, ensure the interiors are bathed with light and spaces feel generous and comfortable.
Other notable winners included the Nordhavn 41 being named Motor Yacht Under 25 Metres winner, Feadship’s 47m (154ft) yacht concept picking up the Interior Design - Concept Yacht award and Trinity Yachts 58.2m (191ft) superyacht UNBRIDLED taking home the Master Cabin award.
