Hitting the waters at the Heesen Oss facility for the first time on May 18, 'Project Castor' has been completed thanks to the yard adapting to social distancing measures early on during the global coronavirus pandemic.
Claimed to be the most voluminous 55-metre superyacht currently on offer by a Northern European shipyard, 'Project Castor' is the fourth hull in the Heesen 55 steel class with a volume of 760GT.
The timed launch during the COVID-19 pandemic has been made possible by multiple adaptations being made throughout the shipyard and offices during the early stages of the crisis.
Ensuring there was minimal disruption to the constructions in process, Heesen arranged social distancing by staggering shifts to help keep employees at the required distance.
We have been beyond impressed with how the Heesen team adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic. They have adjusted their working hours to increase social distancing yet retain optimal man hours on our project and preserve an on-time, high-quality delivery which is no small feat in these challenging times.

Scheduled for delivery in August 2020, motor yacht 'Project Castor' was previously known as YN 19055.
Featuring exterior designs by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, one of the highlights so far is an eyecatching 'shark's tooth' motif up by the wheelhouse.
Interiors have been created by UK-based long-term collaborators Bannenberg & Rowell. Their naturally appealing creation is said to be dominated by signature woods and warm tones throughout.
Although the general concept of 'Project Castor' remains similar to the previous 55m Steel yachts for sale, there are a few differences in the layout. Key examples of these changes include larger cabins on the lower deck, a 73sqm owner's cabin and a full-beam sky lounge.
Heesen claim 'Project Castor' is the most voluminous 55m superyacht currently on offer from a Northern European shipyard.
Integrated with the continually high performing FDHF hull by Van Oossanen, 'Project Castor' promotes a top speed of 15.5 knots, with a range of 4,500 nautical miles while cruising at 13 knots. 'Project Castor' now prepares to begin sea trials within the next few weeks.
