Dutch companies Vripack and Qnautic’s new Q52 tender is set to be ready for delivery in the next couple of months.
Design firm Vripack joined forces with boat builder Qnautic to develop the 16.1m (52.8ft) tender after a successful collaboration in 2020 on the Q39 super-RIB. Sporting sleek lines and wide and comfortable helm seats, the Q52 tender is entering the final construction stages and will be ready for delivery in the summer months.
“The idea for the Q39 originated from a need for fast and safe RIB suitable for offshore use,” says Marnix Hoekstra, co-creative director at Vripack. “By combining existing RIB designs with contemporary techniques and styling, the Q39 super RIB was born. So, when tasked with the brief to take it to the next level and re-create the Q52 tender, we happily accepted the challenge.”
“It’s been a pleasure to work with Vripack on the development of both boats,” says Robbert van Rijk, founder of Qnautic. “The interest and passion for boatbuilding originated at our family shipyard in Amsterdam. After many years of working in shipping, including the offshore industry, fish industry, tugboats and wind farm vessels, a love for building high-quality boats has arisen. Our son Marnix van Rijk recently took the helm at Qnautic, which means the company now has four generations of boatbuilders in the family.”
The Q52 builds on many of the key characteristics of the Q39 and features wraparound seating and clever use of space with a wet bar with sink and fridge and ample exterior spaces for relaxing when traveling to and from the mothership. A swim platform brings guests right to the water and a wide passarelle makes stepping on and off safe and easy. Twin 600hp Cummins QSC engines give a top speed of 40 knots.
Qnautic was founded in 1935 and began by building small sailing yachts and boats, the company has since evolved into building aluminium catamarans and specialist tenders.
Vripack has developed from designing small dayboats when it began life in 1961, to being involved in the delivery of many significant superyachts including 70m (230ft) FELIX, delivered in 2007 and 55m (180ft) ‘Quinta Essentia’, delivered in 2016. At the end of last year it was revealed to be working with Royal Huisman on the 52m (171ft) Project 406, which will become the world’s largest sportfisher when she is delivered in 2023.
