Superyacht GO has been caught on camera as it crashed into the wooden dock of St. Maarten Yacht Club on Wednesday morning.
Local reporting has attributed the incident to a computer malfunction that caused the 77m (253ft) yacht to lose its steering as she attempted to leave the Simpson Bay Lagoon. Nobody was on the docks at the time and no injuries were reported.
Sint Maarten Yacht Club General Manager Michele Korteweg confirmed that a structural engineer will be assessing the damage and that the dock will remain out of use until a new dock is secure.
She said: “For now, safety is more important than the rebuilding and we hope to get back to teaching sailing safely as soon as possible.”
Superyacht GO is Turquoise Yachts flagship superyacht and has picked up multiple award wins and nominations since she was delivered to her Owner in 2018. Sleeping 16 guests across eight cabins, she is immediately recognizable by her turquoise-colored hull.
GO is set to be usurped by VITRUVIUS, an 81m (265ft) project currently inbuild at the Turquoise yard. She is due to be delivered to her Owner in 2024.
