Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminum superstructure she features a 12.4m (40.6ft) beam and a 4.4m (14.4ft) draft. The yacht is built over four decks with an internal volume of 2,146 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in late 1994; the yacht was delivered to her owners in April 1997.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Limitless draws inspiration from the iconic Carinthia VI, showcasing a distinctive aesthetic that pays tribute to its predecessor while establishing its own presence on the water. At a length of 96.25 meters, Limitless held a notable position among private yachts during its launch.
One of the most striking features of Limitless is the curved front of the superstructure, an intricate grid of small windows that not only offers a visual connection to Carinthia VI but also provides a modern twist on a classic design. The yacht's profile is further enhanced by the forward lean of the transom, which mirrors the stem's angle, creating a harmonious and forward-thinking silhouette.
In a departure from traditional design, Jon Bannenberg, the visionary behind Limitless's exterior, chose to forgo a fixed forward mast. Instead, a retractable carbon fiber mast serves the practical needs without marring the yacht's sleek lines. This solution exemplifies the attention to detail and the uncompromising approach to aesthetics that characterize the yacht.
The dark blue color scheme on the topsides, paired with a pristine white superstructure, continues the legacy of her muse, Carinthia VI. These colors not only provide a timeless elegance but also highlight the yacht's impressive dimensions and the graceful flow of her lines.
The propulsion generators can be swapped out through the tender bays using the yacht's own tender cranes, a feature that showcases the vessel's blend of beauty and engineering prowess.
Interior Design
The yacht is privately owned with a high level of confidentiality maintained, hence no interior photographs are available.
Accommodation
Limitless offers accommodation quarters for up to 12 guests arranged into six suites.
To provide flexible sleeping arrangements, Limitless also offers two twin cabins.
To provide full guest service, Limitless accommodates up to 20 crew members.
Performance & Capabilities
As an exemplar of maritime engineering, Limitless showcases a blend of power and elegance. At the heart of her performance capabilities is the innovative diesel-electric propulsion system, developed to meet the owner's ambitious demand for speed, enabling Limitless to achieve a significant milestone – a swift transatlantic passage at 25 knots non-stop.
The twin diesel-electric Caterpillar (3516B-DI-SCAC) engines are central to Limitless's mechanical efficiency, enabling the yacht to reach an impressive top speed of 25 knots, an extraordinary feat for a vessel of her size and stature. When cruising, Limitless maintains a comfortable speed of 17 knots.
Limitless's extended range is a notable feature of its diesel-electric system, designed for efficiency, enabling long journeys and transpacific passages at 20 knots without intermediate refueling.
Adding to its adaptability, controllable pitch propellers were post-constructed to enhance the propulsion system. The design's flexibility is evident in the ability to exchange propulsion generators through tender bays using the yacht's cranes.
The extensive refit began in 2003, (although the planning began in 2001 due to the extensive nature of the work), and introduced a far more efficient maneuvering and propulsion control system.
Amenities
The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. In addition, a swim platform is on hand for guests looking to cool off in the sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort.
