Were Dreams is a 52.3m motor yacht for sale delivered by Dutch shipyard Amels in 2008. She features exterior design by Tim Heywood Design and interior styling by Laura Sessa Romboli.

Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9m beam and a 3.4m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 642 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the third yacht built on the Amels 171 design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Yacht Were Dreams, an Amels 171 design, boasts a striking white hull and superstructure, characterized by elegant curvature. Smooth lines gracefully flow from the aft quarter deck to the rounded, raked bow, accentuated by side balconies on the upper deck forward of amidships, adding both functionality and visual appeal.

On the sun deck, a raised, side-curved feature with grill accents serves as a striking focal point before the distinctive radar and communication arch, complemented by raised wings on each side. The sundeck features an al fresco dining area under the radar arch for shade, while ample relaxed seating aft provides panoramic views from its elevated position. Additionally, the sun deck features abundant sun pads surrounding an elevated circular jacuzzi tub. The shaded section under the radar canopy is an ideal spot for gym equipment and is regularly utilized on Were Dreams.

Large glazing sections within the bulwarks and three sizable side panels on the main deck allow ample natural light to flood the interior, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. Open aft deck areas benefit from unobstructed overhead light, with large doors connecting exterior and interior spaces. Notably, the inward-leaning aft guardrails on all deck levels follow the lines of the superstructure, enhancing the yacht's clean and sleek aesthetic.

At the stern, twin sheltered stairways lead from the main deck aft to the bathing platform, gently flaring out as they meet the deck. The yacht's side profile reveals dynamic lines that ascend and flow towards the commanding bow, concealing functional deck spaces housing equipment such as a prominent light mast that can be lowered when not in use, and anchoring gear.

Strategically positioned staircases on the port side of each level ensure convenient access throughout the yacht. A wide walkway encircling the upper deck guides guests to a secluded relaxation area forward, offering a tranquil retreat before descending to a spacious sun pad area.

Interior Design

Italian designer Laura Sessa Romboli conceived three interior concepts for the Amels 171 range, with Were Dreams embracing a light wood aesthetic, fostering a warm and soothing atmosphere. Highly lacquered walls reflect natural light streaming in through expansive windows. Plush cream sofas with black piping exude comfort, while touches of black on elements like tables and trim enhance the space. High-backed armchairs and stools in light grey provide additional seating.

In a secondary salon, warm burgundy hues adorn armchairs and cushions, complementing a light grey sofa arrangement. Bespoke rugs featuring linear chequered patterns contrast elegantly with the light wood floor. Window shutters add both functionality and visual interest, while Herve Van der Straeten's Tornade lamps serve as captivating design accents.

In the owner's private office, ocean blue serves as the accent color against cream sofas accented with gold piping. A triptych artwork depicting the yacht navigating Dutch canals takes pride of place opposite the desk. A cream rug with a zigzag design motif echoes the blue of the cushions, adding visual interest to the space.

Accommodation

Were Dreams can accommodate 11 guests across six cabins, including a full-beam owner’s suite that is forward on the main deck and comes with an office and walk-in wardrobe. There is a single cabin nearby, which could suit a child or a nanny and the rest of the guest accommodation can be found on the lower deck and comprises two double cabins and two twins. The yacht can carry up to 13 crew to provide a full guest service.
