Said to be even more energy-efficient than the first Feadship hybrid motor yacht SAVANNAH from 2015, superyacht OBSIDIAN has Feadship’s Advanced Electrical Drive (FAED) integrated, meaning she can store 4.5 times more electricity.
Combining elements such as weight control, propulsion technologies, and the use of the more eco-friendly Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel, motor yacht OBSIDIAN has proven the potential to drastically reduce carbon emissions by a staggering 90%, compared to superyachts running on fossil fuels.
Running on HVO during her sea trials in June 2023, motor yachtOBSIDIAN surpassed expectations and using the Yacht Environmental Transparency Index (YETI) for guidance, Feadship determined that she will have around a 60% reduction in environmental impact while running on HVO, or a 27% cut while burning fossil fuels.
Formerly known as Project 710, construction for motor yacht OBISIDIAN began in 2020 with collaborative design input from well-known studios RWD and Monk Design.
