Heesen’s 67m Project Sparta moves to next stage of construction

The hull and superstructure of the superyacht have been joined as she now prepares to begin outfitting ahead of her scheduled delivery in 2021.

Heesen’s 67m (220ft) steel superyacht ‘Project Sparta’ has moved to the next stage of her construction with the Dutch yard confirming her hull and superstructure have now been joined.

The three-day operation saw Project Sparta’s hull lowered into the water for the first time where she received two MTU 12V4000 M65R diesel engines and gearboxes. The two-part aluminum superstructure and mast were then placed on the hull and Project Sparta was moved to a shed ready for outfitting and interior fit-out to begin.

The fully custom superyacht is the largest steel Fast Displacement Hull Form ever built, and this construction milestone follows the turning of the hull in May 2021 and the keel-laying ceremony in October 2020, which saw a Greek coin featuring Poseidon welded to the keel.

Renowned English studio Winch Design is responsible for both her assertive exterior, characterized by a powerful bow and bold curves, and her family-orientated interiors which feature a huge, full-beam main salon. The Fast Displacement Hull Form comes courtesy of Van Oossanen Naval Architects.

Highlights of the 1,200GT superyacht include a 6.5m (21ft) infinity pool, a lower deck wellness area complete with oval Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and gymnasium and an upper deck reserved entirely for private use with suites facing forward and aft.

Project Sparta, also known as YN 20067, can sleep 12 guests across six cabins and is expected to have a range of around 4,500nm at 12 knots, with a top speed of 16 knots.

“The production of full-custom yachts is a challenge that we at Heesen always undertake with great enthusiasm,” comments Heesen CEO Arthur Brouwer. “Their construction embodies the personality of their owners, and offers us the opportunity to demonstrate the incredible levels of excellence our teams can achieve. Working with Winch Design is always a great pleasure, and we look forward to seeing this yacht in all her splendour two years from now.”

Project Sparta was originally unveiled as Project Avanti at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2018 and sold to an experienced charterer and yacht connoisseur the following year. She is set to be delivered in 2023.

Combining considerable pedigree with a short delivery time, thanks to pre-defined hull shapes, Heesen is one of the world’s leading superyacht constructors. To find out more, view all Heesen yachts for sale.
