Design studio Vripack has unveiled 24m (80ft) ‘Project Meteor’, a champagne-hued concept developed for an Owner for whom speed was of the essence.
Vripack has teamed up with its Dutch compatriots, Van der Valk shipyard, on the project which was originally developed for an Owner who wished to drive his family to his weekend retreat as quickly as possible. The result is a secure superstructure with dynamic lines, plenty of interior volume and a 41-knot top speed.
Alongside speed, comfort and stability were the two other main factors influencing the design. With regards to the latter Project Meteor incorporates retractable foils that automatically deploy around 20 knots, then once at anchor the sides can be opened and guests can make the most of the walk-around deck, foredeck lounge with a Jacuzzi and swim platform aft.
Inside the main salon is home to a dining area and a bar opposite as well as a forward lounge spot, whilst the lower deck hosts two double en-suite guest cabins with the beds angled with views out to the sea. The interior layout is created to embrace flow of movement and features a mix of satin and gloss finishes alongside gunmetal black diamond-stitched leathers and blue velvet surfaces.
The concept has been developed in partnership with Van der Valk, with the design studio calling Project Meteor “one of the boldest examples of an extremely powerful Van Der Valk, sculpted for those who dare to defy convention.”
Dutch design studio Vripack began life developing small dayboats back in 1961, but is now involved in many sizable projects. These include the 52m (171ft) Project 406, being built by Royal Huisman and which will become the world’s largest sportsfisher upon her delivery in 2023.
Van der Valk has also been in existence since the early 1960s and prides itself on being the only Dutch yard in the 18m (59ft) to 45m (147ft) range to build aluminum hulls in-house and take care of all outfitting and finishing.
Van der Valk and Vripack worked together previously on 27m (89ft) superyacht LEVEN, delivered in 2019 and nominated for four Boat International Design & Innovation Awards.
Whilst Project Meteor is currently a concept, there are many yachts currently available to buy. If you want to find out more you can view all new and pre-owned yachts for sale.
