Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 28'11" beam and a 9'6" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 515 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Originally launched in 1990 as Charade, the yacht's profile received a bold update to the traditional Frits de Voogt lines, which at the time of construction, represented a significant aesthetic evolution.

Her stern, traditionally squarish in design, was transformed with a cascade of elegant steps that spill gracefully from the boat deck down to a full-width permanent swim platform. This feature is not only visually striking but also enhances the yacht's connection with the sea, making water access for diving and various water sports activities effortlessly inviting.

The BG Charade's flybridge offers an uncluttered space, free from the conventional helm station, further emphasizing the yacht's commitment to leisure and relaxation. This innovative design choice reflects a philosophical shift in the approach to yacht architecture, where the emphasis is placed on creating expansive, multifunctional outdoor living spaces.

Under the stewardship of her enthusiastic owner Bobby Genovese, the BG Charade's exterior decks have been thoughtfully considered to maximize enjoyment and social interaction. The yacht now features modular outdoor furniture that can be arranged to suit any occasion - from sophisticated alfresco dining to relaxed movie nights under the stars, courtesy of a retractable 102-inch screen.

The attention to detail extends to the teak decking, which now envelops all the decks, previously only a feature in the guest areas. This not only adds a touch of elegance but also unifies the outdoor aesthetic, ensuring a seamless visual flow from bow to stern. The addition of a substantial new sun pad on the foredeck provides a sumptuous lounging area capable of accommodating all guests in supreme comfort, enhancing the allure of sun-soaked relaxation and social gatherings.

BG Charade's interior is not just a space but an experience — one that is sure to leave guests with a lasting impression of elegance and ease synonymous with the finest in luxury yacht travel.

Interior Design

The exquisite interior design of BG Charade is a testament to the yacht's transformation into a paradigm of contemporary luxury and comfort. The collaborative vision of her owner, Bobby Genovese, and the talented Dee Dee Eustace of Taylor Hannah Architect breathes new life into this classic Feadship, harmonizing sophistication with a relaxed beach house ambiance.

The main saloon has been ingeniously reconfigured to serve as a multifunctional social hub where guests can dine and lounge in an open, inviting space. The decision to remove the formal dining room in favor of an additional VIP suite on the main deck reflects a modern approach to luxury yachting, where versatility and comfort are paramount. This innovative change allows guests the luxury of choice, be it an intimate dinner in the saloon or a more casual setting elsewhere on the yacht.

The master suite has undergone a meticulous redesign, expanding its en suite to accommodate a lavish bathtub, a feature that underscores the yacht's commitment to providing an opulent retreat for its guests. Throughout the yacht, the interior rebuild has been carefully executed to ensure that every element contributes to an atmosphere of sophisticated comfort.

Eustace's design choices have been pivotal in updating the yacht's aesthetic while respecting its heritage. She has chosen a consistent stone theme throughout the yacht, replacing the variety of stone surfaces that previously dated the interior. The original limed oak has been refreshed with a mix of gloss and matte finishes, modern flat baseboards, and simple chrome hardware, complementing the yacht's sleek design.

The color palette is intentionally monochromatic, with shades of white and grey creating a tranquil backdrop that allows the vibrant hues of select artworks and decorative pillows to pop. This subtle use of color, along with the serene views through the windows, ensures that the interior spaces feel connected to the seascape beyond.

In the guest cabins, the theme of understated elegance continues, with satin hardwood floors and the same white and grey tones offset by artistic accents, providing a serene haven for relaxation. The new VIP suite, transformed from the former dining room, offers guests a luxurious and private space with all the amenities expected of a first-class yacht.

Accommodation

The yacht comfortably accommodates 12 guests across six well-appointed cabins, ensuring an intimate and exclusive experience. The master cabin, or owner's suite, situated on the main deck, has been thoughtfully reconfigured during a refit to enhance the size of its en suite, now featuring a sumptuous bathtub that complements the luxurious atmosphere. This allows guests to enjoy a serene and private retreat with all the comforts expected from a vessel of BG Charade's stature.

Additionally, the transformation of the former dining room into a VIP cabin on the main deck not only exemplifies the yacht's adaptability but also addresses the modern guest's preference for versatility in accommodation. This additional suite affords guests the luxury of a second master cabin, complete with an en suite bathroom, providing an equally plush setting as the owner's suite.

Below deck, BG Charade offers four equal-sized guest cabins that ensure each guest is treated to the same standard of luxury. These cabins reflect the yacht's overarching theme of sophisticated comfort, featuring a crisp white and grey color palette that is both soothing and contemporary. The harmonious design is complemented by the satiny finish of the hardwood floors, small color accents in the artwork, and the textures of the furnishings, which contribute to the overall ambiance of understated elegance.

Crew accommodation is equally well-considered, allowing for a high level of service to be maintained onboard. The yacht's design ensures that a crew of up to 10 can operate efficiently and discretely, providing guests with an uninterrupted experience of luxury.

Throughout BG Charade, the unifying aesthetic is described by owner Bobby Genovese as "Newport beach house." This style choice is indicative of a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere that has been carefully curated to ensure guests feel at ease in their luxurious surroundings.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3508 DI-TA) 905hp engines, motor yacht BG Charade is capable of reaching a top speed of 15 knots, and comfortably cruises at 13 knots. With her 70,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at 13 knots.

The refit included the implementation of a SigmaGlide silicone coating by PPG on the hull. This innovative coating is expected to improve the yacht's efficiency and reduce fuel burn, which is predicted to be around 240 liters per hour at cruising speed with generators running. This efficiency gain not only suggests improved speed capabilities but also hints at an extended range, allowing BG Charade to undertake longer voyages without frequent refueling stops.

A significant upgrade during the refit was the replacement of the original Vosper fin stabilizers with the cutting-edge Quantum Zero Speed stabilizers. This state-of-the-art technology ensures that guests aboard BG Charade can enjoy a smooth and stable experience, whether cruising through choppy waters or at anchor. The Zero Speed stabilizers are designed to reduce the roll of the yacht, enhancing comfort for all aboard and demonstrating a commitment to incorporating modern advancements into this classic vessel.

BG Charade's soundproofing features an exceptional level of noise insulation not commonly found in older yachts. This meticulous attention to detail ensures a tranquil environment on board, further enhancing the comfort and luxury experience for guests.

BG Charade's refit extended to her systems as well, with the upgrade of her chilled water system and the addition of dual voltage electrical receptacles, indicating a modernization that keeps her amenities and facilities up to date.

One of the original yachts from Below Deck, 47m (153ft) luxury yacht BG is a well-maintained superyacht from esteemed Dutch yard Feadship.

Amenities

The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. BG Charade also features deck jacuzzi which provides excellent views.
