Ecstasea is an award winning 85.95m motor yacht delivered by Dutch shipyard Feadship in 2004. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Terence Disdale, while De Voogt is responsible for her naval architecture.

Design & Construction

Designed around a semi-displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.85m beam and a 3.8m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 2,107 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Interior Design

Ecstasea's interior design, the work of Terence Disdale Design, prioritizes a sense of relaxed elegance and practicality. The chosen materials and finishes throughout the vessel reflect a dedication to quality and a focus on creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere for family living.

The main saloon is strategically designed to circumvent the space occupied by the yacht's exhaust shaft, traditionally the center of a yacht's social area. Instead, the saloon is divided into a smaller, lozenge-shaped lounge at the aft end of the main deck, with expansive windows and comfortable settees. This area serves dual functions as a reception space and a relaxed gathering point.

The interior dining room eschews formality, featuring a shot-blasted wooden table and bamboo chairs, bound with rawhide. A bamboo grid adorns the deckhead in the master bedroom, while venetian blinds moderate the natural light, complemented by mirrors that give an impression of heightened space in the already generous room.

The lower deck guest cabins, while sharing a similar layout, display four distinct decorative themes, each creating a unique and attractive ambiance. Design elements like a natural wooden sculpture in the main saloon and the artistic use of worn wood in the spa room's wall contribute to the narrative of travel and adventure.

Throughout the yacht, the integration of artwork and sculptural elements transforms potential pass-through areas into engaging spaces enriched with design intention. A corridor leading from the entrance lounge becomes a gallery with walls resembling pitted steel, complemented by leather, raffia, and oak finishes.

Accommodation

Ecstasea is engineered to accommodate a total of 15 guests within its luxurious confines. This number is hosted across seven double cabins and a single cabin, ensuring a spacious and private experience for each guest aboard.

The centerpiece of Ecstasea's accommodation is the master suite, a triumph of design that maximizes space and comfort. It benefits from a high deckhead, contributing to an airy and expansive atmosphere. This suite is a private retreat, complete with an en suite bathroom and a mezzanine observation saloon. The observation saloon offers panoramic views, which can be converted into an upper level of the duplex master suite, allowing for an exclusive and secluded space for the yacht's owner.

The yacht's guest accommodations are found on the lower deck, where a central lobby provides access to four large double guest staterooms. Two of these staterooms feature en suite bathrooms, while the other two are equipped with shower rooms. Each cabin is designed with a distinctive theme—Japanese, African, Venetian, and Millennium—providing a unique ambiance and character.

The crew's welfare has been given significant consideration in Ecstasea's design. The crew quarters are located forward of the guest accommodations, ensuring easy access and functional living spaces. These quarters comprise of two double cabins, two twin cabins with an additional pullman berth for flexible use, and six bunked cabins, all featuring en suite shower rooms. Additional accommodations for the crew include a twin-bunked helicopter pilots' cabin and a captain's double cabin on the bridge deck, along with a personal secretary's cabin on the entertainment deck. This configuration allows for a maximum crew and staff complement of 27 individuals, although the yacht typically operates with fewer, thus providing ample flexibility in accommodation.

The galley, situated opposite the crew mess, is state-of-the-art and connected to the service pantries on various decks via a dumbwaiter and crew stairway. The sub-deck houses the laundry and various storage facilities, ensuring that the yacht's operational needs are met without impinging on the guest experience.

Performance & Capabilities

Ecstasea’s prowess lies in her engine room, where a potent combination of machinery enables her to reach speeds that are striking for a yacht of her magnitude. She is powered by four MTU 16V4000 M70 diesel engines, each producing 2,237kW, coupled with two MAAG gearboxes driving a pair of 1,600mm diameter Wärtsilä Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPP). This formidable diesel quartet is complemented by a 23,371kW General Electric LM2500 gas turbine, which is connected to a custom-built Wärtsilä LJ210 water jet – a setup that exerts a colossal 50,000 liters per second of water, propelling the yacht to her apex speeds.

Ecstasea's top speed exceeds 35 knots, with a cruising speed comfortably maintained at 30 knots. Her range is equally impressive, with a fuel capacity of 138,000 liters, she can cover approximately 5,000 nautical miles, ensuring extensive voyages without the frequent need for refueling.

The yacht's navigational capabilities are bolstered by sophisticated equipment, including dual Litton radars and a C.Plath gyrocompass & autopilot, ensuring precise and secure voyages. Communications are similarly advanced with an array of systems including NERA Fleet 77 and Sailor Inmarsat-C, providing reliable connectivity even while traversing remote seas.

Ecstasea's stability in motion is supported by a Rolls-Royce retractable stabilizer system, which operates to minimize the roll of the yacht, ensuring comfort and steadiness for passengers on board. Additionally, the yacht is equipped with a trio of 312kW MTU 2000 M50, 8V generators, and a Jastram bow thruster of 250kW, enhancing her maneuverability and self-sufficiency in all conditions.

The ship's onboard water is managed by a HEM desalination system, capable of producing 50,000 liters per day, ensuring a plentiful supply of fresh water during extended periods at sea.

Ecstasea’s technical aspects further include a robust air-conditioning system provided by Heinen & Hopman, alongside Steen windlasses and a comprehensive Hi-Fog firefighting system, underpinning the yacht’s commitment to both comfort and safety.

The yacht’s construction is of high-grade aluminium for both hull and superstructure, certified by Lloyd's 100A1 SSC Yacht (P), Mono HSC, G6, LMC, UMS, SCM classifications, which attests to her quality and seaworthiness.

Amenities

A gym with all the latest equipment allows her guests to keep their workout routines while at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Ecstasea also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
