The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in May 2014 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.
Exterior Design
The brainchild of naval architect Espen Øino, Elysian's design resonates with a distinctive aesthetic that sets it apart from other yachts of its size. Øino's vision for an exterior that was both unique and different from anything seen before has been marvelously executed, making the Elysian a true symbol of nautical innovation.
Elysian's exterior is marked by clean, streamlined contours that effortlessly cut through the ocean waves. The yacht's imposing bow houses a tender garage, complete with gull-wing doors, providing a spacious and well-finished home for the eight-metre custom Windy limo tender and the crew boat. The garage access hatch, located just forward of the Portuguese bridge, ensures smooth operations and allows for easy tender launches even in rough seas.
The placement of the tender garage at the bow allowed for a more comfortable and spacious accommodation area at the aft lower deck. The yacht's helipad is strategically located above the working deck and forward to avoid disrupting life on the aft deck when a helicopter lands or takes off. The aft deck itself is a marvel, featuring a spectacular pool that reigns supreme, surrounded by sunpads and expansive lounging areas.
Elysian's exterior design is not just about aesthetics, but also about functionality and practicality. The yacht's unique profile is fresh and different. Whether you view it from the side, from the stern, or from above, Elysian's exterior design is a sight to behold, a majestic expression of nautical architecture at its finest.
Interior Design
The grandeur of Elysian is not only evident in her exterior design but also in the lavish details of her interior. The interior design, boasting a French classic theme, was expertly handled by Reymond Langton Design, a firm renowned for its art deco sympathies. However, Elysian's interior aesthetic diverges from art deco and embraces a more timeless, classical style.
The main saloon is gently divided into three distinct areas to cater to different social occasions. The section at the aft is a transitioning lounge with a bar focusing on the aft deck, where the spectacular pool reigns supreme. The center section, nestled between the plenums for the engine room below, creates a cozy sitting area facing a fireplace on one side and a concealed television on the other. At the forward end is a stunning dining table by Silverlining, set against a backdrop of velvet drapes, tooled leather on the ceiling, upholstered walls, and amboyna joinery with hints of gilding.
The interior joinery throughout is particularly pleasing, featuring a lot of tricky bookmatching to maximize the effects of the grains in amboyna, rare avodire, various burls, and flame mahogany. All joinery is satin-finished for a hand-rubbed look.
For the health-conscious, Elysian features a gym and an entire spa area, complete with a massage room that doubles as a hair salon, a changing room, a dayhead, a sauna, and a steam room. These spaces offer stunning views of the sea and are accessible from the main saloon aft.
Accommodation
Built with the needs of its guests at the forefront, Elysian's accommodation is truly one of a kind, providing high-end sailing experiences for up to 12 guests across six cabins.
At the heart of Elysian's accommodation is the full-beam master suite. This grand space showcases the yacht's French classical interior theme to the fullest extent, with luxurious details such as gold leaf, bronze detailing, thick silk carpets and ornately detailed classical furniture. The suite includes an ensuite dressing area with his-and-hers wardrobes and bathrooms. Each bathroom is finished in onyx, with showers positioned outboard to provide views through the large windows. These elegant touches contribute to the overall grandeur of the suite, offering an unparalleled level of comfort and luxury.
The remaining guest accommodation is located on the lower deck, comprising five cabins each carrying forward the classical theme, each with a unique color scheme. Two cabins are specifically designed for children, with the added touch of allowing the family’s two daughters to choose their own colors and fabrics. All guest cabins are designed to meet the highest standards of comfort and luxury, ensuring a restful sleep after a day of exploring the seas.
Elysian also offers ample space for crew members, with the smart galley designed by the family's chef. This space is away from the main traffic flow to the crew quarters below but has easy access to the hull door on the lower deck for bringing large amounts of stores aboard. It has a large center island, numerous owner-specific pieces of equipment, deep sinks, a soft, non-skid floor, and day refrigerators and freezers. The laundry area, split into two spaces for machines and folding and another for ironing, is also notably spacious.
Performance & Capabilities
Under the hood, Elysian is fitted with a pair of MTU engines, each boasting 2,365 Horsepower. Together, they provide a top speed of 16.5 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. Elysian's range of 7,000 nautical miles at 12 knots is an impressive feat of engineering, enabling long, uninterrupted voyages across the seas.
The mechanical capabilities of Elysian extend beyond speed and range. The yacht is equipped with Quantum Zero Speed Stabilizers to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey, regardless of the sea conditions. This advanced stabilization system significantly reduces roll motion effect, resulting in an exceptionally smooth sailing experience even at zero speed.
Further enhancing the performance of Elysian is the state-of-the-art dynamic positioning system. This allows the captain to maintain the yacht's position and heading by using its own propellers and thrusters. This feature is particularly useful for creating a sheltered area for launching the tenders in rough seas.
The yacht's tender garage, capable of accommodating an eight-meter custom Windy limo tender and a crew boat, is a marvel of space utilization and design. The garage, with its gull-wing doors, also houses the emergency generator in a separate soundproof space, ensuring optimal operational conditions.
Elysian's mechanical capabilities are complemented by its advanced heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The yacht's HVAC system, which keeps the interior temperature and humidity at optimal levels.
Amenities
The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. In addition, a swim platform is on hand for guests looking to cool off in the sea. The yacht can house plenty of nautical toys and accessories, with a well-appointed tender garage for storing her impressive locker. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Elysian also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
