Design & Construction
Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 21'8" beam and a 5'3" draft. The yacht is built over 1 decks with an internal volume of 130 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the twenty-seventh yacht built on the Mangusta 92 design.
Exterior Design
The exterior of the yacht Kawai reflects a focus on performance and style. Built with a modified deep V planning hull, it has a smooth and efficient ride through the water. The flared bow and transom-type stern also contribute to its sleek and streamlined appearance.
The hull is constructed with an advanced GRP single skin composite structure, using Vinyl-ester Resin through a hand lay-up process. This choice of materials and construction techniques enhances durability and performance. The deck and superstructure are made using a GRP sandwich composite structure, also based on Vinyl-ester Resin, combining hand lay-up and infusion processes for added strength.
Kawai is designed to be fast, with a focus on high performance. The yacht includes a swim platform equipped with a freshwater shower and swim ladder, providing convenience and comfort for those on board. The exterior main deck offers sunbathing areas both forward and aft, with fully walk-around decks that enhance accessibility and movement.
Interior Design
The interior design of the yacht Kawai has a contemporary and light feel.The galley is designed for practicality and efficiency, positioned adjacent to the crew space. It is equipped to ensure seamless operation, supporting the yacht's overall functionality.The helm area on the main deck features a three-seater arrangement, and forms part of the main deck saloon.
The lounges and salons offer a comfortable environment for relaxation and socializing. The main deck's lounge space is thoughtfully arranged to accommodate guests with ease. The dining area, capable of seating eight, provides a setting for both casual and formal meals.
Accommodation
The Mangusta-built yacht, Kawai, features a thoughtful accommodation layout designed to ensure comfort and privacy for up to six guests. The lower deck is home to a full-beam owner's cabin, offering an ensuite with dual sinks, a walk-in dressing room, a vanity, a refrigerator, and a sofa, providing a spacious retreat for the owner.
In addition to the owner's suite, the lower deck includes a twin guest cabin located to port and a forward-positioned VIP cabin, each designed for optimal guest comfort. A third cabin serves as a versatile relax space, equipped with an office area, a sofa, and an extra berth, adaptable to various needs.
For the crew of up to three, accommodation is efficiently located next to the galley, featuring a laundry, mess room, a dedicated captain's cabin, and one additional crew cabin.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V 2000 M94) 16-cylinder 2,600hp engines, motor yacht Kawai is capable of reaching a top speed of 37 knots, and comfortably cruises at 34 knots. With her 2,325 gallon fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 300 nautical miles at 34 knots. Her planing hull design means she is fast and efficient as she slices through the water.
