Design & Construction
Designed around a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 10.5m beam and a 2.95m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 1,149 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the first yacht built on the GranTurismo 66 design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in May 2014 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in August 2014.
Exterior Design
Okto's hull, developed in collaboration with BMT Nigel Gee, features a distinctive forward-reaching blade that slices through waves with precision. Okto's straight bow contributes to a stable ride, minimizing tilt during maneuvers and providing a level of comfort that is notable for a yacht of its size. The captain's observations confirm that while the yacht may take on water in rough seas, its handling characteristics and ride comfort are prioritized, resulting in a vessel that navigates smoothly and efficiently.
The yacht's exterior spaces are thoughtfully arranged. The aft features a sizable swimming pool, measuring 6.5 meters by 4.7 meters, which serves as an impressive focal point upon approach. The pool's placement at the narrowest part of the aft deck is a deliberate design decision that balances aesthetics with practicality.
Ascending from the bathing platform, wide staircases lead up through the yacht's various levels, culminating in a top deck equipped with a spa pool and gym. The bridge deck offers 80 square meters of open space, suitable for lounging, dining, and even dancing, with high-quality audio provided by 1,000W speakers. The touch-and-go helipad on the forward deck doubles as additional entertainment space when required.
In a departure from traditional yacht decking, Okto utilizes synthetic Esthec material, selected for its aesthetics and practicality. The teak alternative forms the decks in a pattern that narrows from the centerline towards the beams, contributing to the yacht's contemporary appearance.
Okto's master cabin boasts an innovative feature in the form of a fold-down balcony that operates entirely at the touch of a button, removing the need for crew intervention and enhancing owner privacy. This balcony is complemented by a unique air curtain technology that repels insects and maintains interior climate control..
Interior Design
The main lounge is appointed with dark woods, offering a rich, classic atmosphere that is both inviting and impressive in its simplicity. Meanwhile, the upper deck lounge features zebra wood, providing a unique visual texture that complements the natural light streaming through the expansive windows.
Attention to detail is evident in the cabin's corridor, which doubles as a walk-through wardrobe, leading to a master bathroom and an intimate vanity area. Throughout the yacht, the emphasis on natural light and the strategic use of high-quality materials create a harmonious balance between luxury and comfort.
The yacht's entertainment amenities include a state-of-the-art audiovisual setup. The owner's preference against onboard projectors has been accommodated with an impressive 103-inch plasma screen in the upper deck saloon. This space is optimized for leisure, with an iPad interface controlling curtains, lighting, and a Kaleidescape entertainment system for a personalized cinematic experience.
Accommodation
Accommodation aboard Okto is designed to host up to 10 guests in a refined and comfortable environment. The yacht features five suites, each tailored to provide a tranquil and private retreat for its occupants. The arrangement includes an owner's cabin, one VIP cabin, and three double cabins, ensuring a variety of options for guest configuration.
The owner's cabin is characterized by whitened sycamore wood and high-gloss varnish finishes that enhance the natural light entering the room. This suite offers a generous layout with ample room for rest and privacy. Adjoining the owner's cabin, there is an additional cabin fitted with a sizable double bed which can serve multiple purposes: as a study with an expansive window and desk or a convenient VIP cabin for family members or close friends. The dual purpose of this room, coupled with superior sound insulation, allows for it to be utilized independently of the owner's suite.
The master bathroom and vanity area are positioned to port, designed with convenience and accessibility in mind, forming part of a corridor that doubles as a walk-through wardrobe, providing abundant storage space.
For the crew, Okto ensures that up to 12 members can be accommodated on board, facilitating the delivery of a relaxed and luxurious yachting experience for guests.
