The 49.35m motor yacht Te Manu was delivered to her owners in 1998 by Italian shipyard Codecasa. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Codecasa, while Franco is responsible for her interior design.

Key Features

  • Sun deck Jacuzzi
  • Elevator linking all four decks
  • Stabilisers underway and at anchor
  • Full beam master suite

Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.5m beam and a 3m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 612 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

Te Manu's bow is designed with a knuckle, giving it a sleek and agile look. This design element gradually merges into the topsides until it disappears towards the middle of the yacht. The aft deck, typically an open space on many yachts, has been partially enclosed to create a sun lounge. This area is fully glazed on three sides and features a wood floor, providing an outdoor feel while protecting occupants from the elements.

The bridge deck offers a semi-shaded area with a large oval teak table, while the sun deck is equipped for outdoor living. It includes a splash pool, ample space for loungers and sun pads, and a bar and grill. Darkened glass screens around the forward end of the sun deck deflect the breeze and add privacy, while the aft end can be cleared to permit helicopter landings.

Boarding the yacht from the stern, guests enter via the sun lounge, which leads to a formal dining room. The yacht features an upper deck saloon with high-gloss pear joinery, a granite-topped bar, and multiple seating areas. The aft of the bridge deck also offers space for alfresco dining.

Te Manu includes a garage for two tenders and other equipment, concealed behind an upwards-opening transom door. A turntable system in the garage allows for easy access and launch of the larger tender. The yacht's practicality extends to its seakeeping abilities, praised for its maneuverability and quiet operation, even at higher speeds.

Interior Design

The interior design of Te Manu focuses on functionality with a touch of elegance. The primary material palette includes high-gloss pear joinery, matte-varnished English sycamore woodwork, and limed oak paneling, which contribute to a cohesive and bright atmosphere throughout the yacht.

The main saloon is replaced by an elegant library. This space features a sofa and deep leather armchairs grouped around a low table, creating a cozy environment for reading or conversation. Bookshelves line the walls, and lockers conceal an extensive music and video library. A television, which rises from a counter, can access satellite channels and onboard films.

The upper deck saloon serves as a large, comfortable gathering area. It includes a granite-topped bar and several seating areas arranged around tables. The high-gloss pear joinery adds brightness and elegance to the space. This saloon also houses a concealed top-quality television, video, and audio system, making it a popular sitting room aboard.

Accommodation

Te Manu is designed to accommodate up to 12 guests in a total of six cabins, including a full-width owner's suite located on the main deck and five guest staterooms situated on the lower deck.

The owner's suite is a standout feature on Te Manu. Entered from a private study, this expansive suite offers a full-width stateroom with large windows that flood the space with natural light. The suite is furnished with twin double beds, a sofa, and a desk. A unique feature is the segmented mirror opposite the beds, which can slide away to reveal a television screen.

The adjoining double bathroom is equally impressive. Two separate rooms come together over a centrally positioned whirlpool bath, creating an elegant marble-floored area. The bathroom also includes shower cubicles that offer both a steam bath and a conventional shower. Lockable compartments within the twin walk-in wardrobes provide additional security for personal belongings.

The lower deck houses four guest staterooms, each designed to the highest standards. There are two king-size double cabins with en suite bathrooms and two twin cabins, each with an additional Pullman berth and en suite shower rooms. Each room is paneled in limed oak and comes equipped with an entertainment center, individual air-conditioning controls, and a safe deposit box.

An additional double stateroom is located on the main deck, offering an exceptional view through large topside windows. This cabin is equally well-decorated and provides a comfortable and stylish retreat for guests.

To ensure the highest level of service, Te Manu has a full-time crew of 11. The crew quarters are located on the forward part of the lower deck, complete with their own mess deck. The captain's cabin is situated adjacent to the bridge, allowing for easy access to the yacht's navigation and operational areas.
