Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8.51m beam and a 2.74m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 487 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in early 1997. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the Teleost is straightforward and practical, catering to functional elegance. The yacht features a raked bow, which aids in slicing through the water efficiently. The deck is constructed from teak, a material known for its durability and resistance to the elements. The hull is painted white, providing a clean and classic appearance. This white extends to the superstructure, creating a uniform look. The boot top is blue, adding a subtle touch of color above the waterline. Below the waterline, the hull is red, a traditional choice for many vessels.

Teleost features a fishing cockpit aft, a rare inclusion for vessels of her size, allowing for direct landing of marlin onto the main deck. She is equipped with outriggers and a secure fishing position by the mooring bitts, complemented by television cameras on the fishing lines for real-time viewing.

The main tender, a 6.4-meter (21-foot) sportsboat, is versatile for both fishing and diving activities. Teleost's upper deck houses the boats, launched via a crane concealed in the aft bulwark. The design ensures ample space for an outdoor dining table, with the flexibility to stow the chocks aside when more room is required.

The sun deck offers additional open-air space, featuring a bar, barbecue, and a large spa pool. The design prioritizes functionality, with practical amenities for sunbathing and lounging.

Interior Design

The interior design of Teleost is characterized by a blend of traditional and modern elements, crafted with attention to detail and functionality. The design by John Munford features strong, traditional lines and utilizes raised and fielded mahogany paneling finished in satin. This choice of woodwork lends a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout the yacht's interiors.

The main saloon is designed for comfort. It features large, overstuffed sofas along each side, providing ample seating without excessive ornamentation. Notably, the main saloon does not include a television, although each cabin is equipped with one, and there is an extra-large screen in the sky lounge on the upper deck. The saloon also boasts large, opening windows, offering an alternative to air conditioning when fresh air is preferred.

Adjacent to the main saloon, the formal dining room on the main deck stands out with its beautifully curved, glass-fronted tableware cabinets that flank a marquetry dining table. One of these cabinets includes a 'secret' compartment that can be assembled to form an additional side wall for private meetings. This feature allows the dining room to be open to the saloon or enclosed as needed.

The upper saloon offers a distinct 'club' atmosphere, with a cosy bar and distressed leather armchairs. This area is ideal for socializing or relaxing, whether guests choose to enjoy a drink from the bar, watch a movie on the home theatre system, or read a book on the comfortable sofas. A three-seater bar, complete with a brass rail and leather-topped stools, also serves as a pantry when food is served on the upper deck. This bar area includes a dumb waiter from the galley, cleverly hidden behind a panel, and provides direct access to the side deck for the crew.

The galley itself has been significantly upgraded with the latest culinary equipment, catering to high standards. It now includes a steam oven, induction burners, and an innovative device capable of making ice sorbet in minutes. These enhancements allow the yacht's French-Polynesian chef, Gabriel Levionnois, to prepare a wide range of dishes with precision and ease.

Accommodation

Teleost offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in six spacious cabins. The owner’s suite, located forward on the main deck, features a full-beam lounge and study, as well as a full-beam bedroom. The bedroom is furnished with a king-sized double bed and an elegant chaise longue. The en-suite bathroom boasts a full-sized bathtub, twin basins with marble countertops, and golden onyx-lined shower panels.

Below the main deck, five guest cabins provide additional accommodation. This section includes two large double cabins and three twin cabins. Each double cabin occupies half the width of the hull, offering ample space and high-quality furnishings. The twin cabins are flexible, with two of them featuring additional Pullman berths. All guest cabins are equipped with individual climate control, comprehensive audio-visual entertainment systems, direct dial satellite telephones, and internet connectivity. Each cabin also features beautiful woodwork, soft carpets, and marble bathrooms.

For the crew, Teleost provides accommodation for 10 members in total. The captain's cabin is located abaft the bridge, while the remaining crew are housed in four twin-bunked cabins positioned forward on the lower deck.
