It was like it had never been away, with Port Hercule loaded with luxury design, the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show hummed with life around the docks, showcasing one staggering yacht after another.
Reunited after a near two-year hiatus, yacht Owners, buyers and professionals descended to the iconic backdrop of Monte Carlo with high anticipation of all the yachts they hadn't yet seen in the flesh.
Among the euphoria of being back on the yachting scene, positivity was felt and expressed throughout the show, giving promising feedback on the show's new layout and badge system plus how it significantly improved the overall flow of the event.
Some healthy visitor numbers and one of the best-ever exhibitor counts were joined by 101 superyachts. Impressively, around half the superyachts on display were launched during 2020/2021 or later, creating the chance for visitors to see the latest in nautical design.
"The 2021 edition of the Monaco Yacht Show was the first opportunity to see the results of a change in approach to the show, by placing the focus firmly on the customers of the industry rather than the business activities within it. The result was a more relaxed atmosphere, and with no overcrowding," says Theo Hooning, Secretary General of SYBAss.
The show's new culture, shifting the focus away from general visits and onto Owners and buyers, seems to have been well received with yards and brokers around the docks, there were a lot of good vibes and thoughts on the new system and how it will affect future sales at the show.
Hosting a wide range of the biggest names in the industry, many brands brought their highest profile custom yachts including 94m (308.4ft) VIVA from Feadship, 95m (311.7ft) MADSUMMER by Lurssen and the jaw-dropping 108m (354.3ft) megayacht IJE. Certainly raising the electricity among the crowds, the larger superyachts for sale made a huge impact and quite rightly so.
